twthomas 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Please excuse the combination of ignorance and excitement. I just found this game site and man am I excited! I really would like to purchase the game but the US release says May. I have bought several games from overseas in the past and they were all fine. In fact OF was one of them. What is the difference in this case? Should I wait? It appears others in the US are already playing. Suggestions?
frederf 0 Posted April 2, 2007 I bought the UK version of OFP way back when, I bought the UK version of ArmA now. I have no worries about my version of the game being anything less valuable than the US version when it comes out.
deevius 0 Posted April 2, 2007 What the hell, I thought the US version was supposed to be released 1st of April (TODAY if im not mistaken?) so are you saying they haven't released it? I guess April 1st release date was just an april fools joke eh
deevius 0 Posted April 2, 2007 btw why not just buy it for 44.7440 USD off the Sprocket site? you'll need a credit card or Paypal though.... and its downloadable version, no DVD ect.
max power 21 Posted April 2, 2007 I would advise you to buy a physical copy one way or another, even if that involves waiting until May.
Monkwarrior 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Because some (not all) players experienced problems with activating online versions (see other topics on this forum).
INNOCENT&CLUELESS 0 Posted April 2, 2007 @twthomas: If you can deal with some bugs ArmA is definately your game engine, but don`t be surprised if you do not see the same quality as in 1.96. If you do not like boring bugs, wait until May and play the demo meanwhile.
twthomas 0 Posted April 2, 2007 If I buy the DL Version can I cut it to disk and activate it a second or third time over time? I am one of those who re-formats about every six months to keep the PC running fresh. I bet I have 100 installs of Close Combat II. LOL! The main web site shows May 1 US release. Wish it were yesterday.

EricM 0 Posted April 2, 2007 If you buy the DL version, you have 3 activation tokens. That goes fast, given that patches may ask you to reactivate. After that, you need to write to get more activations and it may take a few days especially if it's friday evening... That's what happened to many people, me included, when 1.05 came out. It's very frustrating, but on monday evening I had my activation count reset. If you can wait, get the disc version, that way you will be able to reinstall at will. If you can't, get the DL version AND the disc version when it comes out
predator887 0 Posted April 2, 2007 ive heard nothing but bad things about downloading games from the internet from companies like sprocket
benreeper 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Get it from GoGamer.com. Why would anyone recommend Sprocket to someone after all of their problems? --Ben
ck-claw 1 Posted April 2, 2007 I got my Czech copy from my-sprocket and never had any probs with it(in November-couldnt wait for 505 release)! But now have 505 version-just like to have a hard copy! Think it just depends if your willing to wait or how badly you want it now!
libertyordeath776 0 Posted April 2, 2007 I got the german download from morponic, er something like that. Have had zero problems, but still gonna get a US hardcopy:)
Infam0us 10 Posted April 2, 2007 Buy a copy on DVD ... the amount of bull people have with activating it online, sprocket ignoring them ... at the end of the day its just not worth the hassle. Just look at the amount of problems on this forum with people with downloaded copies of the game

But how many 100's maybe thousand's? have not posted on here cause they have no probs with the d/load versions?
mosh 0 Posted April 2, 2007 I ordered the German DVD in November, and have not had any problems. It took less than a week to get here too. I have a few friends who couldn't wait and d/l from Sprocket... They regret it. Only one of them has not had any problems, but the others... major problems. A hard copy with unlimited installs (I also like to format my gaming PC often) makes more sense to me. Your money, your call... Good luck! The game is definitely worth having.
