Each week the two host have a competition to compare high tech stuff and see who wins well this broadcast will pit PC games against Console games and Armed Assault is feature for being the ultra realistic simulation on the PC. So if you can watch it you will see their comments about ARMA. But consider it also as a branching out to people who may have second thoughts of buying the game. Thus attracting more players. low light 0 Posted April 2, 2007 Well after the wait, it was a bit of a disappointment. Nothing really mentioned on the show about the game. The only bit there was was a second or two of on screen action involving what looked like the inside top right hand corner of the HMMWV and a shot of the windscreen and wiper...looked good though!!! No one really missed out on anything watching the Gadget Show on Channel 5, in relation to ARMA that is. Once we get Dx10 the "better" gfx gets nailed by the PC, the 7900 or ATI 1950 with an AMD 3800 x2 is better hardware than either new console (xbox 360 or PS3). What the consoles have had going for them this year is more games and better shaders and FX over DX9. Gears of War and Lost Planet both show what the Xbox 360 can do, both are graphically very impressive and feature some effects we just have not seen the PC do yet. many of the impressive effects in Crysis, sub surface lighting, the facial lighting etc were seen the the nvidia tech demo "luna" but appear to make their first in game appearence in Crysis. Crysis is our gears of war, soon as that hits the consoles lose the graphical war. Hardware wise they were already losing 12 months ago. We just have not had the eye candy software to proove it. I suspect either the PS3 or XBox could run ARMA, but the settings would be much lower than a high end PC and view distance 1-2km max. The cocles have max 512 ram this limits them the amount of data they can handle and the fact till now most games load from DVD and not the HD. Oblivion kinda prooves this, the box and ps3 version have a few GFX effects not on the PC version but as for load time and draw distances the PC kills either version.
