Try opening the folder where arma.exe is located. Right-click on the executable and select "Run as" and run as administrator. Enter your administrator password and report back what happens.

I had the same problem.

Hi McShaka

What is detail on your sound card?

have you also got an onboard sound card? In Sound and Audio Device, view properties, select the hardware tab, can you see AC'97 there?

For your sound card and any onboard sound can you give us Sound card (make, model and driver version)

Also graphic card these details

Graphics card (make, model, driver version, onboard ram)

I think we need to have a look at your event logs too.

Kind Regards walker

I'm getting a bit frustrated now. I've searched the net for hours. I tried everything people said but this game won't launch. No checkboxes, arma.exe appears for a millisecond in the taskmanager and then disappears. It's like I've an anti arma tool running what kills arma.exe immediately. banghead.gif

I know the frustration. I had the exact same problem but starting the game running as the administrator solved my problem. Strange thing is my login has administrator rights but as long as I got it to work is all that matters.

Well, i thought I had a dvd/cd rom drive , although it says in the properties that it is but it doesnt read any of my other dvd's except for a video format of a movie that was made for me and it plays on my drive, but not regular dvd's. Hmmm, that could be your problem also, maybe.

Thanks hoz, but I think I do not have a dvd drive , as I checked on the model details, its just a standard cd/rw. bummer, maybe I shouldve got the torrent download doh! oh well, now I have to shell out more cash and get a dvd drive as well, unless, would i be able to load the game or exe onto my laptop (cause it has a dvd drive) and then copy it to my comp, then do some tweaking? (not drug tweaking)

Hi McShaka

Do you get any error report what so ever?

The NVIDA driver you give as Driver Version: 6.14.0010.9371 (English) look seriously out of date Version: 93.71 is the latest I can see here:

http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp_2k_93.71_uk.html

What version of Direct X do you have?

Should be DirectX 9.0c you can ge the correct version from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloa....lang=en

Check you installed OPENAL32.DLL

Hi Ara6orn

You do mention your AC'97 on board sound. It is a possible culprit. Make sure you have the latest drivers for it; as this is one of the most common problems people have had that causes lockups, CTD and blue screen.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloa....alse#AC

The AC97 is a complex problem and there are several different solutions to it that people have found worked for them.

Also download and install the latest OpenAL installer for windows

http://www.openal.org/downloads.html

There is additional info here.

http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Troubleshooting

You do need to fill in ALL these details so we can help you, we especially need driver versions; so we can exclude or include them as the cause.

CPU

Graphics card (make, model, driver version, on-board ram)

Sound card  (make, model and driver version)

RAM (how much you have)

ArmA version (which language, which patch)

DirectX version (all should be using 9.0c anyway)

DVD (make, model, driver version, we already have had someone who could not play the DVD because he was putting it in a CD player)

Kind Regards walker

I have read elsewhere that your AC97 onboard sound is or could be the culprit.

You missed this I guess

Hi McShaka

Please look in:

C:\Documents and Settings\...Your user Account...\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA\

Open Your arma.RPT file in notepad and tell us what the bottom entry says. It will begin something like this.

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">=====================================================================

Oops just deleted that map. Hmmm I'll install the game again (8th time now.

wink_o.gif

Well I've reinstalled and that map is not created (I think the demo left it there). I think it will be created when the game starts and it won't. :-(

Gents, exact same thing happened to me with softwrap v1.05. Don't know how I fixed it but I did two things; one of which seems to have done the trick. First I installed the AMD dual CPU game optimization patch from the AMD website. Second I also went to the NVIDIA 93.81 beta driver which I accidentally stumbled upon. (http://www.3dchipset.com/drivers/nvidia/official/nt5/index.php). Now works no problem, but I couldn't tell you why.

Cheers.
