BRR 80 Released!

Hi all, this is 343rdBadger's BTR-80 and BTR-80A in 1 pbo so no more swapping file to play with either version. Oh and this BTR-80A has the BMP-2's 30mm 2A42, a PKT and Smoke Grenades. It also apparently has an attachment for ATGM irl, but not added in this version

Thought I'd post an update shot as well(an incentive for someone to fix the trace/mg bullet exit issue)

This is the BTR-90 ATGM version WIP...

EDIT..hmmm...I was thinking,maybe I should scrap the ATGM BTR-90,and simply add the ATGM to the BTR-80A and pretty it up some more...save work.Snoopy...does the existing Config already have the ATGM set up in it that i can simply drop the bmp2 ATGM model stuff onto it?

This is an up armored version of the BTR.

I dont really have much info on the added armor, but its NOT the Ukrainian BTR-80UP. It is Russian and is used in Georgia as we speak.

Not at present, you add the ATGM and ill update the config. As for the MG issue i know what the ;problem is but lack the time or the skills to actally do it. The memory points for the weapons is in the wrong spot, its set up for the old turrent not the new one. I did try to fix it last night but i broke to model so i just left it banghead.giftounge2.gif Will you alter the Rest of the lods so it dont look like BTR-80 from a distance?

Lods are already updated for the BTR-80A...textures and numbers too(small changes to add detail).I want to add "kit" to the hulls to spice it up a bit,but not too sure how to add a texture yet.Will work on that tomorrow.I used the full first lod for all 3 levels,as it doesn't seem to affect performance...but then I have a duel core comp too.I wonder if I should do it for both BTR's???looks alot "cleaner"when zooming out in the command view.I'm also working on shadow lods,but its a bit of a mystery ,weird things are happening,so I'll have to do some searching to figure out the problem(I want to use the exact part of the model to get the nice shadow profile)but I dunno if its gonna work..If you can explain what to do to fix the memory lods,I'll do it myself as I've run into this problem before, and probably will again. So it might be good to know how to fix it myself.Still not sure if i'm gonna do the BTR-90 or not....still mulln' that over.Would be nice to have all 3 variants though.

here ya go snoops...Fixed the lods details,but I didn't add the missiles though,as I couldn't find a pic as to where they sit on the turret??,but I managed to fix the gun bullet exit point,couldn't fix the MG smoke puff(it still is in the position of the cannon) also tweaked the textures abit.Shadows are still a problem,wierd things happen when it try to add the turret shadow.don't know how to fix it.I figure maybe leave the BTR_80A as a gun platform and do a BTR-90 with the ATGM's.

Heres an update that contains the BTR-90.I've sent them to snoops to redo the config files for the missles,but figured its worth posting to play with them as is.Remember these aren't intergrated as yet,so its pick and choose for now.A new paint scheme is included for both sets.Rember they're still a WIP.Also take note on the performances...I'm using all 3 LODS as the same.If its a problem,I'll have to reduce them(seem fine on my comp)

By the way - I've made quick config update of the original BTR-80 v2:

- crew is visible through front windows (hideProxyInCombat)

- fixed material name BMDFront > BTRFront

BTR-80 2.03

Gonna take look at Badger's modifications when I pass last exams xD

On the picture it looks like only the first vehicle in the column has those additional armour plates. Could they be a mine protection kit?

Ok,here the latest dev release on the BTR pack.I couldn't figure out how the damage modeling was done So I'll leave it for someone else or if and when I learn how to do it proper ,I'll update it.Snoops has put the weapon system on them(btr-90) so they really kick ass in a fight.I loaded them down with kit so they also have a weakspot...they're practically blind in the rearend for human players because the "stuff" is in the way.I think its a feature myself to balance the BTR-90 fire power.The BTR-90 has ATGM,ASG-17,CANNON,and MG.It can hold its own in fight if it needs too.Thanks snoops for the fun factor.

BTW I have finally tested my last BTR-80 release and found out that the gunner was affected by StrykerBase outGunnerMayFire = 0 xD

Fixed useless gunner bug introduced in v2.03.

SD BTR-80 2.04 - probably the last one, next time I'll try to take look at Badger's...
