mailor 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Am I the only one who has his bullets impact always above where I am aiming? I mean shouldn't the bullets fall in the distance and therefore I should aim higher? In my game, I have to aim about 1 mm under the feet of the enemies at about 300 m (or even more) to hit the enemy in the feet. Same with the scopes. I have to put the cross at the feet of the enemy to hit him in the head (and yes I know, that in real life you can adjust this, but I can't do it in the game, so it sucks)
Second 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Nope. Sights usually are zeroed to some distance like 300 meters... It is realistic to aim lower than where you want hit is in some distances. I don't know M16, M4 or AK74 ballistics but it could be about 200 meters where bullet is at it's highest level and after that it turns to ground.
EricJ 759 Posted March 5, 2007 It's at 150 meters when a 5.56 bullet is at it's highest point of the arc in it's trajectory.

mailor 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Thanks for your explanation. Still it seems pretty weird, as in my game all the weapons seem to be adjusted to about 500 m or even more, not only the sniper scopes. (for example: In the campaign mission "Beaten Dog", at the beginnig there are some soldiers appearing at the horizon, about 500 m away (I guess). And I still have to aim lower to even hit them (with the machine gun). Can't imagine how I can even hit targets that are further away, since they already only are tiny dots in the distance (and NO, I don't have a mini Monitor, and YES, I do zoom in with my right mouse button). So I guess I will never actually have to aim higher or straight in this game to actually hit anything, because all the guns are adjusted to very far distances... Radic 0 Posted March 8, 2007 I agree - but the really bizzar thing about it is that it's not like they haven't had experience with all this before - once again, it was already done pretty damned decently in OFP so why the heck is it al screwed in ArmA? To be clear: what I mean is that the sight settings in OFP I have always found to feel natural and make sense and therefor good to work with - but in ArmA (Demo) I've been having all sorts of problems pretty much along the lines that mailor is. Do you see pole of front sight and are talking about M240? I don't have anykind problems with it (or any other gun in game). I put pole's tip on target and and bullets hit where pole's tip points (that range between about 100-200 meters is only range i need to lower aiming.). In beaten dog mission from ranges between about 250-400 meters bullets hit pretty near to area that front sight's pole points... so i haven't noticed that i should need to aim lower, well maybe teeny-weeny little bit.
