Geforce tweak for improved color rendition

Recommended Posts

If you search The FAQ for "geforce tweak", you'll find an item I added yesterday about a tweak that improves color rendition.

I would like to get your poll vote and comments on the issue here on this thread. smile.gif

I've been using digital vibrance on my GF2 MX for some time now. It brings out the colour and makes the textures look really crisp.

Anyone not using DV should do so... top stuff.

*Edit*

FYI: The DV option is located under the 'color correction' tab in the additional properties section.

Thats: RIGHT CLICK>PROPERTIES>SETTINGS>ADVANCED>GEFORCE>ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES>COLOR CORRECTION

Yes, it looks nicer now. Thx wink.gif

I will buy GF3 next friday, because they are cheaper now. I must choose between ASUS V8200 T2 64 MB, or a standard GF3 ti200 128 MB. The second one is cheaper (255 euro) and the first one is 310 euro. They said the first one is better and faster, but has only 64 MB so i am in a dilemma now. I asked if they had ASUS V8200 t5, but i got no replie yet sad.gif

I dont like DV because it makes the colors all wrong... If I could apply it just to OFP I might use it, but using it all the time doesnt suit me, especially because I do graphics (web design, sometimes cd covers, posters, etc.) I really dont like the idea that I get different color on my monitor than in the print/someone elses monitor.

In OFP, you can get same kind of brighter colours by setting the brigthness setting from the video options to full (1.8) and lower the gamma so it looks nice.

But both of these things of course take off the pale look of OFP, which is there intentionally to create the war like feeling.

Ah! So what's the problem? Don't see the option?

Let's try ....................

When you go into Desktop Properties, and click on the SETTINGS tab and then on the ADVANCED button, what tabs do you see? Is there a clickable GEFORCE logo button instead of a tab?

I've got the following tabs:

General, Adapter, Monitor, Performance, colour management, Geforce2 MX/MX 400, Twin View

Under the Geforce2 MX/MX 400 tab, is there an ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES tab or button? If so, click on it. Do you see the option now in the upper right?

The additional properties opens up a new dialogue box with more tabs:

3dAntialising settings, Direct3d settings, Desktop Utilities, Overlay controls, OpenGL settings

128 or 64 mb doesn't matter. I just read a test somewhere and they wrote there was no noticeable difference. It only matters when you use very high resolutions and you CPU will give up before that, so what's the point. Go for a Ti500 I'd say.

Try selecting the TwinView tab, then look for a button that says Device settings (or something like that) it´s above the the cancel/apply buttons. That opens a pop-up menu which has the Color Correction item which (finally) opens a new window which has the Digital Vibrance slider in the top right corner.

At least that´s where Nvidia had hidden my Digital Vibrances... wink.gif

Cheers mate, there it is, all hidden away there biggrin.gif

What setting do you usually have it on for best results for OFP?

You guys should try using NVMax to access the Digital Vibrance settings, it makes it far easier than wading through the Control Panel dialogs.

Most importantly, NVMax lets you define presets that can be loaded as needed for different applications. In fact, NVMax can launch a program as part of the preset, which addresses the problem that Kegetys has. You could enable DV for the OFP preset, and when you select the preset, the settings would be applied and OFP would be launched.

NVMax works with the latest (V27.xx) Detonator XP drivers on all platforms used for gaming (95/98/ME/2000/XP). If you want to check it out, click HERE.

Heh u live in holland / germany right?

order it at gistron like I did!!!!!

only 200 euro. next day in house

Geforce ti200. it has 64mb only and a tv out but check out at tomshardware, 128mb is overkill for games. and since its sooooo freeking cheap!!!! 200 euro! and its freeking fast.

its not a known company, PowerColor, but it cant be slower then other Geforce III's becuz it uses the same chipset.

P800 - Geforce 1 (my old one) had 1600 benchmarks in 3dmark2001 in 1024x768@32b. now it has 3800!!!!

www.gistron.com

[EDIT] heh xcuse me lady. to get back on topic; dont want to piss anyone off but its not a "tweak", its also doable by playing arround with the monitor controls smile.gif and ok it does work perfectly[/EDIT]

There is one thing with 23.xx Detonator drivers and above and GPU tweaking programs for NVIDIA cards (NVMAX/GTU/Rivatuner), unfortunally it´s the most important setting in terms of graphic quality in OFP- the LOD setting, more specific negative LOD.

All Detonators 23.xx and above have a bug, not allowing for the setting of negative LOD´s. Even if all the other options work in GPU tuning proggs in conjunction with 23.xx + Detonators, this one setting doesn´t work, as i said it´s not in relation to the tuning prog, but more the fact that all new detonators are missing the option in the core.

This is quite sad, as the 27.xx Detonators are good ones, but if you want the ultimate in visuals and used negative LOD before with NVMAX, you don´t want to miss that feature. So if you want to use negative LOD´s, stay with Detonators below 23.xx, as the setting works there.

BTW, new Detonator drivers also have different Registry entries for D3D, because of that Tuning programs didn´t work at first with these new Drivers, as all D3D entries have been renamed and rather work now by a cryptic number entry.

This is the result *cough, cough* of Microsoft working closely together with NVIDIA for their nonsense WHQL shit.

I know about this. OFP worked bad with 23.xx detonators and above, so i installed 21.xx detonators again.

What can we do confused.gif
