DieAngel 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I am starting to wonder if the Bohemia team has some problems with womens or about modeling them. I can understand the no need of a tomb raider effect but if i remember womens CAN join the army. SO why on earth don't we have any gender difference possibilities in ArmA? Tho , that would be nice from the mod community to do so i would prefere it to be part of the official Arma addons setup so each player can customize his look & feel the way he wish without needing a specific addon. deady 0 Posted March 2, 2007 The answer is simple and quite obvious. They don't have girls in Czechoslovakia.
Banzai! 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Petition BI to do an IDF expansion, then they'll be forced to learn how to model girls.

-Puma- 2 Posted March 2, 2007 there is a female voice wich u can use and if i remeber correctly a female face, when u go to edit user options. But for a side note, I dont think they let females fight in American army IRL.

Wolfrug 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Boobs are really hard to shape Imagine the difficulty of making Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball-style boob-physics! I mean, ArmA wouldn't stand for anything less than individual boob bouncing! This is about ultimate, extreme realism, right? Imagine the threads cropping up about "it's so lame I'm like running down the street and the boobs don't even bounce! Someone fix the animations plz." Jokes aside, I do agree that ArmA could use at least a basic female-civilian model, upon which modmakers could build whatever females they feel needed (wives of presidents, veiled muslim women, hawt sunworshippers, or just plain ol' soldiers). Marian Quandt has a rather unfortunate basic animation, and apparently no placeholders for weapons, making her slightly useless in that role alas. Ah well! Bring on the womens! max power 21 Posted March 2, 2007 I don't think that BI have any problem with modelling women. I think they may have a problem with portraying them being killed and maimed, however.
DieAngel 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Well it could bring a whole debate about gender equality. All i know is that in france at least mens and womens can occup the same positions at army, as long as they are as efficient as their male equivalent.
max power 21 Posted March 2, 2007 It's not for us to debate. There are a lot of militant groups against the violence of women too. Which do you think would garner them less negative publicity? I'd imagine they wish to be taken seriously as a military simulation developer with their military clients, and do not wish to put them in a position where the military is using software that, in its entertainment version, allows you to graphically gun down women.... In Canada it's even a touchier subject, because there was a massacre of women on a university campus in 1989, and the North American release is impending. Also, there isn't equality for women in most world's armies... so just because SOME armies do, doesn't mean that all fictional armies should. But, this is just an argument. There were women in ofp, it's possible they just haven't completed making them yet. BTW, boobs aren't especially difficult to shape.
UnYx 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I am also for the apparition of women in Arma, for the simple reason that they are half of the human population. The fact that they could be harmed is not different from a man being harmed as well. In real life, blood has the same color for everybody and until now I fear noone is bulletproof. If any dumb ass makes a mission with something like a women massacre or any massacre in general, I think that people will be clever enough to judge it by themselves Conclusion : there is absolutely NO reason for any discrimination in the game (male / female or any other discriminating criterion). BTW I did not pay attention, but is there any asian looking guy in the available models ? If not it would be a fair idea to add some (stop me if I'm wrong, but I think they are also a good part of human beings).
Duffers 0 Posted March 2, 2007 It's okay. When you die you all respawn as a bunch of birds.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted March 2, 2007 I guess it has something to do with women having a different shape then men, and they would have needed to redo all those animations for women again. EDIT: I just remembered, i you can run around with the female reporter, but there are some bugs in the animations.
Baff1 0 Posted March 2, 2007 They could add team commands like bend over, beg, and strip into the actions menu too.

Journeyman 0 Posted March 2, 2007 There will be women eventually .... just as soon as BIS has finished the 'nagging' animations! Â
Balschoiw 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I´m opting for at least some women on the civillian side. Hostage missions and ambience in general would benefit.

armored_sheep 56 Posted March 2, 2007 Its not just the shape, its more about movement - average woman skeleton is different than our soldiers and animations should be made different too. The only woman we have now is Marion, just for cutscenes.
memnoch 0 Posted March 2, 2007 I don't think that BI have any problem with modelling women. Â I think they may have a problem with portraying them being killed and maimed, however. That one has always amused me. The same way that children are more or less universally excluded from games, or at least made indestructible. I believe in Fallout it was possible to kill children in some versions of the game. In the game Boiling Point there were children that would just run off if you shot them but everyone else was fair game. There were even grannies that would shoot at you that you could kill. So it seems that the elderly and female are fair game. EDIT: In the words of Bill Hicks "You either love people of all ages and colours or you STFU!"
bravo 6 0 Posted March 2, 2007 Its not just the shape, its more about movement - average woman skeleton is different than our soldiers and animations should be made different too. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted March 2, 2007 Oh great, I see it coming: in coop someone will definetly do the yoke to choose a mean looking male face and give it a high pitch female voice.
Daniel 0 Posted March 2, 2007 It means you have to go through the process of making skeletons and animations for them.
