Where do I find dem files? Also what program do I need to edit them?

Many countries have a government body which will freely give away low resolution data, such as the USGS. You will have to pay for high resolution data (~10m).

I have used two programs to get the data into Visitor - Wilbur and bmp2ascii2ase. I'm sure there is a more efficient way.

I need the DEM of SOmalia!!!! Mogadishu... plz help me finding one!!!!

I'm looking for it since 3 months, without luck!!!!

You would first need to get a dem of the area.

www.mapmart.com

Then you would have to edit the dem in wilbur , if you where only after the mountain.

Make sure your dem is a factor of "two"

256x256, 512x512 ect

Then save it as a "lon, lat" in wilbur.

Open WRP Tool, new, enter your island size.

File, new, "import wilbur", load the lonlat.txt document

And hey presto

No it doesn't.

I don't live in the US so I have no idea of the exact location of this mountain......tell me which county and I will try and extract the dem for you.

Excuse my nwebie-ness but whats the diff between 30 to 90 DEM

Maybe a little late for a reply but the diff between 30m and 90m dem data is the distance between each "height-measure" point.

I hope someone watch this topic, I'm struggling myself (
