which tanks the brits had at the end of he campaign:

M3 lee-grant, M3 stuart (reco), M3A1 stuart (reco), M4 sherman, M4A1 sherman.

because the british tanks were not enough powerful (main gun) to fight against the new PZ4 (with the long 75mm gun), the panther etc. smile_o.gif

+ all the supplies given by the USA (weapons, ammunitions etc).

If everyone doesn't calm down right now, this thread will be locked and all the offenders will get a lengthy ban from the forums.

First and last warning.

Calm down Hartman, easy, easy.

Relax, like Zoolander.

A little "fight" here, nothing more. Don't close this because would be a shame lose this MOD (or at least his news).

Well not much news. I'm currently in the process of unwrapping everything which is the most boring part of the whole making of things process and at the same time I'm working on some British soldier refrence drawings, with help from Col. Faulkner. After that I'll have some more modeling and unwrapping to do and then I can start texturing and slowly R1 will start shaping up, then the island. A lot of work for one man. Basically, at least a couple of months. I'd be very glad myself if I'll be able to get an alpha working by christmas.

Today is seven months since I started work on this mod and it's still nowhere near done, I've finally completed all the vehicle and weapons modeling for R1, but that's only half the deal, so you can imagine that there's a lot more to do.

However, the biggest tank killers in the campaign were A/Tk

guns, not other tanks. The most common pieces from mid-

1942 (British 6 pdr Mk II and German 5cm PaK 38) could

defeat anything their respective enemies had in-theatre at

that time.

It would seem that some of you more recent posters are

under the impression that I am involved in some way with

this Burning Sands mod. Much as I would like to be

associated with such sterling work, I am, alas, only assisting

in an insignificant "historical advisory" capacity. The mod is

solely the work of "MehMan". My own commandos project is

something else entirely than this.

Unfortunatley you are mistaken, that's all Col. Faulkners work.

And nah Col. Faulkner, it's far from insignificant!

Kris @ Sep. 08 2007,04:28)]... (El Alamein), You had the 1st/10th/1Q10th/7th tank brigade, 9th Australian, 2nd NZ, 1st South Africans, 4th Indian, Greek, 50th/44/8/10/30 British, 1st french. Is this just the main units in major battles or any lrdg?

If so Vickers K and lewis tounge2.gif .

I'm sure Australians are important enough to have...Tel el Eisa or most other major battles really... Give them a hat model (well, actually I think they mostly went with their mk2 helmets... confused_o.gif oops), and different voices and there ya go biggrin_o.gif . pistols.gif

Based on number and type of troops in theatre in mid to late

1942, Australians weren't any more (or less) important than

South Africans, New Zealanders or Indians (the Greeks and

Free French were there in much smaller numbers).

"MehMan's" soldier in KDs and tin hat is useable for all of

these with small, or no, modifications (with the exception of

some of the Indian regiments - wearing paggri in action - and

the FF - wearing British clothing but with their own French

kit).

No progress right now, stalemate. RL issues and other mods have given me a call and I just don't have the time, energy and will for everything, so this has to be sidetracked.

Well for release 1 I plan to only have Germany vs UK. It'll probably stay that way because adding everybody else means that this won't be released for years to come.

Sorry to hear about this having to be sidetracked. I hope

that won't evolve into a permanent situation. For several

reasons this was an especially interesting and worthwhile

ArmA mod subject.
