HDR problem?

Recommended Posts

To me that looks like perfectly normal HDR with gamma and brightness set too high. Maybe the gfx card's own Vibrance (or whatever) settings aren't default?

Lighting levels are set at default, I have not touched them (set at 1.0,1.0).

Nvidia cards cant have HDR and AA running at the same time apparently e.g Far Cry, Oblivion.

Would this be a problem with Arma as you cannot disable HDR and i like running with AA?

Just wondering if any other Nvidia users experience the same issue compared to ATI (which dont have that problem).

Ok i changed the HDR to 16 which removes AA and now i get the fog effect on a clear day as shown below.

This is my settings after HDR set to 16 http://aycu26.webshots.com/image/10065/2001941659979083681_rs.jpg

This is the fog im getting http://aycu11.webshots.com/image/10810/2001204494267201643_rs.jpg

Now back to 8 HDR and full AA i get less fog http://aycu21.webshots.com/image/10140/2002872216256270053_rs.jpg

Hi all,

I too dislike HDR. I didn't like it in HL2 and I don't like it here.

I find it irritating and unnatural the way the ambient lighting rapidly alters depending on where you're looking. imho that doesn't add "realism" to the game, quite the opposite. In real life your eyes adjust automatically without you having to be made continually aware of it. Which is why I think BI have "overblown" the effect because as it is, you are being made continually aware of it. Its just all too intrusive.

HDR *may* work better if it were considerably more subtle than it is at the moment.

Ideally, I'd like to see an option to "tone it down" or better still "turn it off" altogether. Then, it may just get my vote. smile_o.gif
