Vilas' addons

As far as I know limited amount of FN Minimi was used only in Gulf War in 1991, when americans had lack of M249. So I'd better give Minimi to resistance forces.

Martin served some time in army wink_o.gif

as he knows - US forces adopted Minimi as M249 and early series were direct copy of Minimi, and those LMGs were given first to special forces , started with big US army equip upgrade in 1982 (along with PASGT, BDU systems)

he told me that US forces had such M249 in beggining, maybe it was bought Minimi with US "codename" ?

i saw that Japan army uses such Minimi but with heat shield/cover

so they use mix of Minimi and M249 , so maybe this was first US M249 ?

many sources say different things smile_o.gif

just like after typing in GOOGLE "vog pouch" we will not find such pouch as shown for Soviet soldier , so in different sources i found different infos :]

maybe yes, maybe not - concerning Minimi/M249 at screen

edit:

i even found something like this on fas.org :

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-249-dvic536.jpg

so it is like Minimi with grip of M249 (US)

Guerillas should be poor equiped wink_o.gif

Well, Minimi and M249 is not the same gun, or to be correct - M249 is a bit altered varient of FN Minimi. For example canadian forces use Minimi under codename C9. But as you can see M249 has a bit diffirent look (including minor techonological characteristics). Also M249 isn't produced in Belgium, but in US branch of FN in Southern California. So, almost the same story as with FN-Mag and M240.

Quote from wikipedia:

"The MINIMI and the M249 are not exactly the same weapon — they weigh different amounts and have slightly different configurations; M249 variants can differ significantly. Although officially adopted in the early 1980s, some early production problems delayed full deployment until the turn of the decade. One thousand MINIMIs were purchased directly from FN for the Gulf War in 1991, as there were not enough M249 yet in service at the time. The M249 has undergone a number of variant and improvement programs, though it is scheduled to be replaced by a new lightweight machine gun — the AAI LMGA (2004 contract)."

So, we can give small amount of Minimis to guerillas SF (if they'll have some), letting others still have old RPKs etc.

Addition:

Is that picatinny rail I see on top of M249 in your picture? Remove it - pycatinny rails in '85 = nuts.

you binarise addons ? so how can it be from "yours" (CS imported?)

heh

it is reskin of BIS model , I even haven't downloaded Italian weapons

coming back to M249 , quote "Additionally, early SAWs have fixed steel tubular stocks"

so probably I will do Minimi, early M249 (grip and with/without heatshield) and modern M249 (BIS M249)

edit - picture just show comparision of BIS and my model of my-thoughts early M249 (i know about orginal Belgian muzzle flash hider)

Sry , i know it was stupid question.

I know it's BIS M249 , i only asked on that grip , that grip texture looks very similar biggrin_o.gif

must look similar if presents real weapon, it cannot look in other way, because it MINIMI grip, not other

just like all rain-pattern camo textures (old Polish, CSLA, DDR) will look similar too

like Glocks will be looking similar and etc.

also BIS have a lot of unused textures in this game, which I use for my pack

really stupid question :P

Just a info for those intrested in the mod:

I talked to Thunderbird from FFUR yesterday and he will join the development team!

So, i think soon we need to set up a extra thread for the project.

A own website with forums should also be up soon.

thats a really great news. Vilas, Topas are talented artists, but more skilled people work the better mod will be.

Hearing so, it looks like not-another-simple-mod. It looks like total modification project smile_o.gif

Yeap, it's going to be an good mod.

Are you going to do some kind of GRAA Mod, i mean, change not only the models but also the gameplay?

gameplay is already little changed, not only models

my weapons have more realistic values of range than BIS default

there is (in WW2 pack already) changed accuracy of AI and player

BIS changed AI in 1.09, but before 1.09 - my "trick" was made, of course BIS made 1.09 beta release before i released WW2 fix2

and P85 is still not released

but if someone use 1.08 - he will notice difference in SP missions

he will stay longer alive and more bullets will be flying around him, not just AI turns, bang bang, 2 shots from 300 meters and you are killed by small dot which was hard to see, spot, aim and react before it appeared enemy soldier aiming directly and only at player

Minimi improved to realism, but 1985 commando will get normal M249 without picatiny rail, i hope it will be realistic smile_o.gif

Btw, Vilas, maybe it's better to resize M60E3? It's shortened version of M60, but now ingame it is too big (barrel a bit longer than it should be and overall size is larger - look on screen above.

m60e3.jpg Compare with this pic. wink_o.gif

Also flashhider is wrong a bit - look here http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped....312.jpg

Some teaser pics on updated weaps and units wink_o.gif:

Wow.

Simply stunning for the most part. Every time I see the US units I still wish the molle gear would get replaced with Alice gear to be accurate for the period, but man those soviet units look sweet smile_o.gif

Edit: Can you add a band to the boonie hats as well? Only bad knockoffs of woodland boonies come without the band.

Hey vilas, is there any chance i can get the original MLODS of some of your weapons, i wish only to change the muzzle flash in some weapons that i would later like to put into a single high quality weapons pack along with some from the swiss mod and tdmg pack, with your persmission of course.
