Audio Bug Latest Directx Update

Recommended Posts

I had perfect sound ingame with both hardware accel and EAX activated, but after the latest Directx update it all went fubar, i'm having all sort of sound bugs.

Strange artifacts, total silence, not working engine sounds, bullet sounds and such.

With hardware accel disabled I have not yet have this problem but it still is strange

maybe I should reupdate OpenAL but it still sounds strange to me

are there any others who had this problem?

i wouldnt jump the gun on this one and blame ArmA just yet, since we did only get this problem after the directX update. also the fact that after the update even F.E.A.R.'s audio has gone fubar.

so im guessing its a directx issue more than it is ArmA.

And to be honest;

the directx december update is not an official release but

a beta version.

You can't expect a game developer to support issues in

such a case.

will be nice to stop spreading "such" info ...

OR support such comment with link to MS KB article or MSDN related discussion etc.

Well, i got the info from the german ArmA forums:

http://www.forum.german-gamers-club.eu/showthread.php?t=2732

Zitat:

There is a new (updated) version of DirectX 9.0c availible on the net.

Version: DX

Date Published: 12/13/2006

Grab it from the Microsoft site (webversion):

Microsoft Downloads

or other links:

Softpedia.com

Apperently it can give some users some FPS boost in ArmA. For me it didn't.

AFAIK the december DirectX9.0c update has some pre-DirectX10 files, so imho only users of the latest grafic cards (such as 8800GTS/GTX etc) can expect some improvements. Although it can be bad to update.

We (well, microsoft) suggest you make a resote point...

Feel free to report your findings of the latest DirectX 9.0c version.

And it was the first sentence which means in english:

Quote[/b] ]At ArtmAmods.net we got a new topic for our (beta) directX 9.

Which made me spreading such info.

If this wasn't true - i feel sorry but not guilty. wink_o.gif

There seems to be something strange in the sounds, here´s small video of that bug. Bmp sounds are totally cut of when reloading sample starts, distance seems to have something to do with this, distance to bmp in that video is about 400 meters, if the player is closer than that the bug doesn´t occur that often or not at all.

My soundcard is X-fi fatality and i don´t have the latest directX update(december).
