I think the paras are not overwriting the ArmA ones, not sure, though. @nubbin77: As W0lle said, we're using OFP class names. That's a bit uncool, as we are overwriting some, but not all ArmA classes. We'll let it as is in the demo, maybe we hide or delete the left ArmA classes in the full build. @Maddmatt: We did have own clutter, but we're using ArmA clutter in the demo due to some stupid bugs. We're currently using the OFPE M60 MG. If we can get Skaven's model in MLOD, we'd defitnitely take it. It does seem to have everything that an ArmA weapon should have though, like LODs and normal maps (I could be wrong about the LODs, I don't have an MLOD version). So obviously if you wanted to use it, you would ask the permission of the CS modders that made it and the people who imported and changed it for ArmA. That's why I quoted the credits. The_Captain 0 Posted December 12, 2007 I see CWR will use the same classnames as OFP. Will it also use the same display names? Specifically I prefer "rifleman" to "soldier". Also, can the ARMA classes be included with the new models? I saw that the arma classes might be included but I'm not sure if you guys meant with the original arma models or with the new cwr models and stats. raedor 8 Posted December 12, 2007 We're planning to use the same strings as OFP did, this is maybe not possible in the demo (also east, west instead of BLUFOR etc). No, for demo and the next releases we do not plan to have all ArmA characters/classes supported. When the mod (Res included) is done, we might think about making a "CWR _Mod_ Edition" which does not try to simulate vanilla OFP:R but a modded one, with many little enhancements, new units etc. The normal CWR edition is only there to bring OFP to ArmA. ( forgive me the drama ) Indeed it is, CWR totally rocks the boat, Malden looks really really nice in the new engine, awesome to play Ambush and see the village from so far away and be able to overlook the whole mission area from the hills. Also it plays pretty similar to OFP and if BIS fixes the skill setting of the units some more in the next ArmA patch then i cant see why anyone would still wanna play OFP ( ok ok people with older PCs dont count ). @Canadian Terror, i may be wrong but i think they dont port OFP over 100% but rather simulate a modded late OFP. Weapons already in ArmA are used with the ArmA sounds i think, the placeholders like the OFP M60 seemed to use the old original sound but that can change fast. ( forgive me the drama ) Indeed it is, Agreed. I don't use the rugular units anymore. The addon-ACU units out there are much better although ACU will remain ACu and you either like it or you don't. Personally I think ACU is not that bad, but it's indeed not a very good camouflage for a very green enviroment. MARPAT marines would have been a better choise for BIS. I've been using desert units on desert sahrani and I must say I had awesome combat situations that are just as intense and 'fun' as in OFP, but with way better graphics making the epxerience much better. ArmA on itself is an incomplete game and not that good, but it's engine is good enough to give addon-makers the tools to make it an awesome game. That's why I'm looking forward to CWR as it will combine the gameplay of OFP and the graphics of ArmA. Only thing that remains for me is the flight model of the helicopters. No matter what I do I just can't get it right and fly a helicopter without crashing. Thanks for that information! It's very important to know that better times for ArmA are coming. I really can't identify myself with the iraq-like-desert-scenario. I have to agree about the game setting too, Arma has the engine but the sharani/sla/acu didnt do it for me. Im looking forward to the CWR demo more than any new game out there, hmmhmm .
