Dallas 9 Posted November 28, 2006 I'm trying to create a mission where players actually have to read the map, navigate by compas and coordinates, rather than following the yellow hud waypoints. I've tried to place both waypoints 'only show in cadet' and 'never show', but the player pilot keeps seeing the waypoints. I'm even disabled everything  in the difficulty settings, both vet and cadet and have hosted a test map in vet.
sniperandy 0 Posted November 28, 2006 you can enforce veteran (advanced) mode. Check the BI wiki....
ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted November 28, 2006 Don't use waypoints. Sounds like a smartass answer, and I don't mean that at all. However, even on vet mode, if you're a pilot, you recieve waypoint info. Just don't use them for the player. There's no way around the thing where it will show your position on the map in an aircraft though
Metal Heart 0 Posted November 29, 2006 Vehicles with madar (Magic Detection And Ranging, aka "ofp radar" ) always see waypoints. Even tanks. You could disable the map and replace it with a picture you can view ingame but that's not a very nice solution. I'd remove the waypoints, you can use other means such as triggers to replace any special funtion they might serve in your mission. If they're there for a possible AI group leader you can replace them with doMove command.
Dallas 9 Posted November 29, 2006 Thanks all, Browsing BI wiki revealed alot of easy to understand info about mission design. I'm cutting the waypoints, as recommended.
sniperandy 0 Posted November 29, 2006 Yeah players hate to be told where to go anyway. Best is they just go by the map and your markers and the rest is up to them
