Armed Assault videos

I am SO depressed right now  sad_o.gif

I'm on a Centrino 1.7Ghz, 1gb RAM, GeForce Go6200 laptop, and yeah I can run Doom 3, GTA San Andreas, Call of Duty 2 all fine with only occasional drops in FPS, but I'm reading these system specs of the users who have posted these videos and it's freaking me out that they're saying things like;

"Yeah its not max settings, could be higher, etc, etc. I have a 13875285Ghz 8gb RAM rig"

crazy_o.gif  sad_o.gif

Please, can someone who knows what they're talking about reassure me... Failing that, a cuddle could help?  confused_o.gif

Argh who am I kidding... Guess a cuddle it is...  sad_o.gif

This review was done on a 1800 Mhz, 512 MB ram, ATI 9600 128 MB system. Think thats a little more powerful than yours (gfx card could be a problem) but should run ok-ish?

The shootout video is very promising and there are lots of positives to note

- AI is actually using bounding overwatch, as promised.

- When they saw enemies far away, they hit the deck immediately and started shooting back without wasting time.

- They are covering different directions.

The only thing that did not feel right is --- the visible US soldier far away, after he hit the deck, moved in behind a bush instead of going behind the safety of the buildings behind him.  Do the AIs have problems differentiating between solid cover and concealment ( like bushes which hide you but do not protect you ) ? One small video is hardly conclusive.

If you could make some open field infantry battles -but with some cover- Shadak that'd be great! (thanks for the ones you've already provided)

I for one think the AI is definitely improved, but I can't wait for the community to improve it further... suppressive fire anyone?

Shadak, thanks for the wonderful vids. I would like to see some CQ Battles on city streets, as well as indoors, to see how the AIs use solid cover. smile_o.gif

Very nice videos, have been watching them a few times.

I hope you can release some more videos soon about AI behaviour.

Maybe make yourself a nice AI battle (city or field whatever you like) and use a cam to watch/record it? Would really like to see how they handle a full fight themsleves.

All released videos can as always also be found on Armaholic.com

Morning guys,

I will try to make some more vids showing AI in the evening. There were few occasions where the squad leader takes out his binoculars in the middle of the street and gets whacked right away (but hey its kool that the enemy noticed a leader exposing himself smile_o.gif ). The squads I was filmin were both on higher medium skill setting. So I'll try to crank it up to elite in next vids smile_o.gif

EDIT: And about that firing sound. It has a pretty kool effects when you hear shooting at longer distance, I will capture that too with higher sound quality (the vids have mp3 compressed sound only)

Dont worry Mate, notice that most of ppl play arma on high or medium, you'll just set the game on low and it proly will run ok. ArmA its about gameplay and realism in first place not the graphics. In future you may do some small upgrades and jump to med/high settings.

-edit-

Buddhiraja73, acording your concearn about AI handling with solid cover, did You noticed that in about 43 s in first Shardak vid AI on the right who moved in the open decided to back up few meters to a brick column ?

Yes, I did notice that and it is quite encouraging. But a more detailed demonstration, in a CQB situation with lots of hard cover, would clear the matter completely. smile_o.gif

The ArmA mountage can also be found on YouTube.

I've embedded it on my site http://scratch.armamods.net (yes, it plays.) so you can find it there if you dont want to download 197 mb.

Hilarious, absolutely priceless (appropriately enough).

I love the way the car just flies into the gas station, haha. It's so comical you can't help but laugh! I guess it must have hit and ignited the pumps, eh?

*Applauds*

That video = priceless.

It reminds me of the humorous moments I had in OFP, where I simply fell out of my chair laughing. Yes, bugs in games are annoying, but OFP's bugs were part of the entertainment.

It is supersonic crack created by a bullet passing by, you can hear it just before the rifle discharge. Its efect of realistic audio physics in ArmA.

Really appreciate your work Shadak.

Although I know you are already flooded with requests , I am going to put out a request for a couple of AI things I would love to see how they work:

-AI squad moving through forrest

-AI Vehicle Column trying to move over bridge

-AI squad running up a hill at enormous speeds.

But I guess what makes for a better video is to see if Tanks,Helicopter,APC/IFV's and MG units know about the range of their weapon.

In OFP it was always knight-on-horseback tactics. Charge into the enemy until you are right next to him.I wonder if OFP AI now knows how to properly employ ranged weapons smile_o.gif

Yeah, I will capture that stuff later on when I get home from work so you can hear it more clearly.
