mr burns 132 Posted September 18, 2006 It´s grrreat! Best racing since GTR & RBR imho. Anyone else playing this pearl of simulation gaming? I´m having a weird problem with my pedals though, would be glad if somebody could shed some light on it as i´m totally lost. Although the wheel (Wingman Formula Force) is properly calibrated with everything working perfectly in windows controller setup (and RBR), GTR2 seems to have a bug or something...and noone else seems to have the same problem Searched bhmotorsports.com forums already but the guys over there only have the "spiking" problem which reduces the overall available throttle during time (100-200 laps) by around 10-20%. Also reinstalled logitech profiler & tried without, to no avail. So here´s my problem: When ingame the accelerator only responds after being pushed about 20%, the brake works perfect. Maybe you can imagine how much this bothers me as it makes good racing impossible. Really don´t know what else to do than asking here. Please rescue me, i need that game! oh and, yes. I am to lazy to register at simbin just to search for an answer that prolly isn´t even there
j w 0 Posted September 18, 2006 In a racing game, do you ever push the throttle less then 20% if not 0%? The problem sounds wierd though, maybe check the game settings if it's set for a wheel instead of keys. Otherwise, try to call Logitech (they're the maker of the wheel right?), if it isn't to expensive, otherwise just mail them. If that doesn't work... Well.. Sue them? USSRsniper 0 Posted September 18, 2006 I like this game, its not bad at all, except it lags sometimes when alot of oponent cars... others than that its good.
mr burns 132 Posted September 18, 2006 In a racing game, do you ever push the throttle less then 20% if not 0%? You´re only used to playing semi simulating (speak arcade) titles aka Gran Tourismo4 or TOCA3 it seems.. Yeah, or ill just rip my arms off or something .. Thx for trying though

No, I know, I rarely put on full throttle, unless I play NFS or possibly Driver 3. But there is no change of getting in contact with Logitech??
mr burns 132 Posted September 18, 2006 But there is no change of getting in contact with Logitech?? I´m quite sure it´s a problem with the game since Richard Burns Rally and the calibrator work perfectly with the pedals. edit: just wondering why im the only one running into this i tried this or rather tried to try it. i have amd 3700+ nvid 7300gs 2 gig of memmory and it says my system is to crap torun it lol. was looking forward to it too . wth ? Im running it (except for the pedals) flawlessly on my xp2500+; 1gig ram, 7800 GS in highest settings
VictorTroska 0 Posted September 18, 2006 Great game, best sim after GTR Fia Racing and RB-Rally  ..oh Mr Burns i think your problem is due the demo version, get the full -much of problems fixed
mr burns 132 Posted September 18, 2006 yay yay yay yay, got it sorted out clicked on joy1: "wingman bla.." a few times, readjusting keys twice and now it works. Happiness! Think it was some conflict with the keyboard or something else, anyways thx to J W whose shot into the blue actually made me try this edit: that darn game is having me on...went to drive some laps after my reply here and suddenly the whole wheel doesn´t work *aarrrrg* edit2: working again..had to disable FF because either my wheel isn´t supported or the games FF drivers are buggy. but who cares, already beat my best laps
bn880 5 Posted September 19, 2006 I like it, much easier to keep a drift on the F550 in this thing. (don't ask don't tell) Almost too easy, I could sweare it's harder in my little GTS IRL... You played with the controller rates? There are quite a few sliders and one of them should remove that deadzone. PS, real life cars may have a pretty big deadzone on the throttle too, you could get used to it.
mr burns 132 Posted September 19, 2006 errr...i´m driving a real life car since 4 or 5 years w/o a 20% deadzone on the throttle (once had a 95% deadzone on the clutch tho, kept driving until it was completely done..) But as stated before it´s working now, also write protected the config file so nuffin´s gonna wreck it As for drifting being easier in GTR2 i fully agree. Back in GTR drifting was a mere guarantee to spin off the track. In GTR2 it´s almost childs play to catch the car again. Dunno if it´s more realistic or not, only irl tests been on gravel, yet. Rg 0 Posted September 19, 2006 I have the same 20% deadzone thing on the throttle with my DFP PRO. I'll have to try your method and see if it works, thanks. About RBR......... How do you calibrate your pedal in game? I load up a track and everything is fine, but after a certain amount of laps or changing courses, my brake pedal goes from "about" 0-50% without touching the pedal. In every other racing sim, there is an option in game to set the deadzone higher, but in RBR I don't see an option. So, how/can you set deadzones with RBR? mr burns 132 Posted September 19, 2006 RBR had some problems with combined pedals on my comp afair. Try disabling this function -recommended anyways, especially for rally- if you did´nt already. You can find the setting under "start/system../gamecontroller/properties/settings" Hope you get your GTR running too, really sucks not being able to dose the throttle properly. Rg 0 Posted September 19, 2006 Yea, I have the pedals separate. Do you know if it is possible to set deadzones in RBR? I think I tried setting the deazone with DXTweak a while back, but that didn't work.
j w 0 Posted September 19, 2006 anyways thx to J W whose shot into the blue actually made me try this No problemo JW

So what if your race car develops a 20% deadzone during a race... can't get used to it? Should. I'm not saying you want it, I'm saying you should be able to drive exactly the same. mr burns 132 Posted September 21, 2006 Deadzone wasn´t the right word as it describes just a dead point with the rest of pedal way working. Totally my bad. What it should´ve meant is that the throttle kicked in with 20% power after pushing the accelerator through a 20% "deadzone" - thus making the car uncontrollable ... on a rainy track i could´nt even start without spinning around edit: Couldn´t resist making a video:
Journeyman 0 Posted September 27, 2006 I don't like the way I can't map accelerate to RMB and braking to LMB (only visa versa). I have two wheels but I find it more fun with my trackball mouse! I play this way with Live for Speed!
Rg 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Wtf? Um......why oh why would you not play a sim without a wheel?
Journeyman 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Wtf? Um......why oh why would you not play a sim without a wheel? ... cos I use a wheel all day long IRL! And when I get home I'm too lazy to rig the awkward things up!  Actually I do use a wheel when I'm mega serious and have had great fun with games like Collin McRea, R Burns Rally, Toca RD2 etc Esp. with a FF wheel. It is great for simulation but when you’ve been behind a wheel all day sometimes relaxing with a trackball mouse is more appropriate and I've actually got quite good at it!
