Sennacherib 0 Posted September 5, 2006 i try to import a 3ds file into o2 and i get that: my old 3ds file work fine (even in the new hd-cfg an other problem). I did not change anything in the settings of the programs used before o2.
nephilim 0 Posted September 5, 2006 can have several issues. ill make a brief list -multiple materials in one object layer -too high polycount -screwed geometry ( eg 2/5 sided polygons) -No kfdata dummy section
Sennacherib 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Quote[/b] ]-multiple materials in one object layer could you explain, please? Quote[/b] ]-too high polycount impossible, the model has 531 faces Quote[/b] ]-screwed geometry ( eg 2/5 sided polygons) explanation please thel last impossible, i use 3dsmax7
nephilim 0 Posted September 5, 2006 oxygen has problems importing multiple uv sets (which are usually bound to their material) in one object. therefore. split up the model per material (or rather per texture) and seperatelly export them to 3ds format. then import each part into oxygen and merge them back in htere check kfdata dummy section i dont know if you can add this in MAX but you can in anim8tor
-FHA-Frodo 0 Posted September 5, 2006 I know that when modeling in Anim8or, I have to export to .3ds with a Dummy 3DS KData attached. Otherwise it won't work.....
Sennacherib 0 Posted September 5, 2006 @Nephilim, thx in fact with 3dsmax, you don't have the KfData problem. a pac2pal problem? my textures are all TGA in 32 bits
Sennacherib 0 Posted September 5, 2006 ok, 1 try with one part of the model (a building), and this part now is in o2, thx again Nephilim i try to understand the error report and i found that, someone could explain to me what is it? SDA import is not supported in light version (o2) error when exporting MDA file
JdB 151 Posted September 5, 2006 in fact with 3dsmax, you don't have the KfData problem. No, however the fileheader can still be messed up. I exported my 100 poly assaultboat from MAX a few days ago to .3ds and imported into O2 and it kept crashing. I then rebooted, opened the .max file and exported to .3ds. Then I imported the model in O2 without any problems/crashes.
nephilim 0 Posted September 6, 2006 dont import textures with oxygen leave the ticks off when importing and also uncheck force convert. set scale 1:1 after importing select the whole part and press E now browse to the texture (which should be in your addon´s folder inside oxygens root folder) sometimes the original model is too small and oxygen will merge some vertices when importing (optimization) simply rescale your model in the other app. and import it into oxygen. 3ds import will work if you take care of the things ive listed above
Sennacherib 0 Posted September 6, 2006 thx: but i think that o2 is just a weird program there is always a problem somewhere with this prog
[aps]gnat 28 Posted September 7, 2006 thx: but i think that o2 is just a weird program  there is always a problem somewhere with this prog  *always* No .... but if you're expecting it to be the universal import all / work on all / model all program then you will be disappointed, BIS didn't create it for that. Sennacherib 0 Posted September 7, 2006 no just for the 3ds files, that would great. Quote[/b] ]the universal import all / work on all / model all program then you will be disappointed, BIS didn't create it for that. this is why i use other programs. i just need o2 for the lods. because i don't have the choice
JdB 151 Posted September 7, 2006 this is why i use other programs. i just need o2 for the lods. because i don't have the choice Yep, same here. Too bad no plugins exist for exporting to BIS's modified p3d format directly, would save alot of time and effort.
Sennacherib 0 Posted September 7, 2006 perhaps, we will be able to have that with oxygen
Sennacherib 0 Posted September 19, 2006 you can close this topic. now that works fine. it was a problem with some faces.
