xerxes1er 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Hello, Thanks to read the recurrent issue that I get with my new PC where no cracks are installed, no spyware, no virus are present. Description of my problem : I've reinstalled my OFP resistance original version (3 boxes OFP, Red Hammer and Resistance) apparently successfully until I try to play. Indeed, I cannot play more than 15 minutes in average cause my OFP resitance crashs to the Windows XP deskop regardless of the mission or mpmission played. Note that the problem occurs even if I installed Addons or Not. I installed the patch and game as you adviced which is : - installation of OFP CD original edition - afterwards installation of patchs v1.11; v1.20 ; (check ofp_1_20 Ok), v1.30 ; v1.46 - installation of Resitance orignal edition (v1.75) - installation of the patch OFPResitancev1.96 My PC Config is as below : AMD 64 4000+ (Core San Diego) - 2407.7 MHz Motherboard : Asustek A8N SLI PRENIUM (v1.02) - Bios (05/30/2005 dated) 2GB DDR-SDRAM Corsair (VS1GB400C3 - speed PC3200U 3.0-3-3-8)) Graphic Card : Nvidia 7800 GTX 256 Mo (Driver ForceWare v91.31) OS : XP Family Version 2002 - Service Pack 2 (up to date) AVG 7.1 Firewall & Anti Virus (bought the licence) - AdWare & Spybot often run. Monitor : ACER AL 1951 AS 8ms (tried most of the time with 1024 -768 * 32 resolution like setup in the game). Additional lights : Explosions, Missiles, Static all TICKED Onglet Textures : Cockpits, Objects, Landscape all 2048 x 2048 Special Effects : 64*64 Auto drop-down : 8x (tried 4x too but...) Note that I have such a problem with OFP Resistance only while Fear Combat, Farcry, HL2, BF2 don't have it. You'll see below a part of my Flashpoint.rpt which shows a recurrent access violation. I am quite desesperate at the moment and your help would be very welcome as you can expect... Especially cause I'm reading forum for 2 weeks now without getting any clue (despite many attempts to configure my game in several way)...:-( Many thanks in advance for your help. BraTTy 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Have you tried lowering your AGP aperature? With 2 gigs RAM your bios must have set it high
igor drukov 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Also... Don't forget to add -nomap in your shortcut.
xerxes1er 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Hello, Sorry, I'm a bit novice on a technical point of view. Where could I lower my AGP aperature please exactly (somewhere in my Bios ?) and how and how much ? Yes, I have also setup -nomap in my Shortcut. Thank you.
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Forget about the AGP thingy, your Mainboard has two PCI Express Slots for the VGA(s). What sound are you using? Onboard? Try lowering the hardware acceleration for the soundcard. Maybe you can try to "underclock" your ram in BIOS. MfG Lee
xerxes1er 0 Posted August 29, 2006 You spotted the prob !!! So thank you. I have desactivated my Sound Hardware acceleration in the XP Control Panel successfully. The outcome was great. So great that I could put almost at their maximum all Video Options and use the AutoDetect feature aswell. The result was impressive cause I played for 2 hours and half without any crash on high level included 1280 x 1024 x 32 (i/o 15 min with low video settings described in my first post). I'll probably setup my video setting a bit lower in order to make longer game without any prob but it's a very good start hopefully. I will be able to wait for Armed Assault now in better condition. Thanks again all of you.
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted August 30, 2006 Nice to hear that it now works! Small suggestion to you. If you have some money, buy an creative soundblaster audigy 4 and use it as the main soundcard. You can leave your onboard sound activated and use it for example together with teamspeak.(If you play in multiplayer) Teamspeak options allows to select which soundcard to use. So you can hear the sounds of ofp with your speakers and the talk of the other players over a headset connected to the onboard sound. Have fun. xerxes1er 0 Posted September 2, 2006 I'll probably buy a new soundcard a bit later. I'm a bit disappointed for the time being actually, cause it sounds that the crash happened even if the Hardware acceleration of my Realtek AC97 is disable in both XP and OFP. Indeed, even after lowering all the others settings, it's vain cause I get the crash to the Deskop ramdomly on a time played point of view before arising. I spent the last couple of days testing to find out the origin of this problem. I've noticed that this crash issue occured especially when I play at the first person... Any idea ? Cheers
xerxes1er 0 Posted November 13, 2006 I'm quite surprised that all recent games are working fine on my PC while OFP in Multi crashes to the Desktop before 30 min. Note that playing alone (with no others human being in the map) can be stable during several hours without crashing. I'm still disapointed. I contacted the Codemaster support aswell which gived me up after several help advices to make me try and followed in vain... Any idea from someone ?
