Trapper 0 Posted August 26, 2006 So what else security settings do I have to disable in order to download from this ******* "safe, trusted and spyware-free" dowload.com page? Is that a joke? I've tried without cookie and pop-up blocker so far. EDIT: I've tried it again now and had no problems anymore. Maybe their server was too busy before. Thx klavan. I've tried without cookie and pop-up blocker so far. I've downloaded it in few minutes without problems.... I haven't tried it yet so far, but it looks good. Klavan Edit I used firefox with both addblocker and default pop up blocker enabled.
AtStWalker 0 Posted August 26, 2006 Have you tried it At? Is it any good? i've just try it isn't bad as 3d modeller program but i don't understand how i can import/export on others 3d format files
JdB 151 Posted August 26, 2006 isn't bad as 3d modeller program but i don't understand how i can import/export on others 3d format files Then I'll stick to MAX, which I am finally getting acustomed to. From what I read on the page, it is more suited for landscapes, and I haven't read anything on other 3d objects Maybe they removed that for the free version? (like with GMAX)
Trapper 0 Posted August 26, 2006 For some more information, this is from the Bryce 5.5 manual: Quote[/b] ]What is Bryce?Bryce is a stand-alone application that allows you to create and animate three-dimensional virtual environments. With Bryce you can create any type of environment you can envision, from the ivory beaches of Tahiti to the silvery rings of Saturn. Bryce user interface contains all the tools you’ll need to create your environments. For example, Bryce includes controls for managing infinite skies that let you set everything from time of day to the color and frequency of clouds. Using the sky controls, you can also set light direction, sun/moonlight, atmospheric depth haze (with intensity and color), height fog (with height, intensity, and color), and multiple sky color components. You can also use Bryce controls to create a wide variety of objects you can use to populate your environment. You can use the Terrain editor to create an infinite number of custom terrains, which you, in turn, use to create landscapes. The realism of a Bryce environment largely depends on the materials applied to the objects in the scene. Materials are complex combinations of textures and values. The Materials Lab lets you combine textures and channel values that simulate any material found in the real world (and a few that aren’t! ). When you have set up your environment just the way you want it, you can add a fourth dimension—time. You can use Bryce’s animation tools to set up landscapes that move and materials that change over time.
Shashman 0 Posted August 28, 2006 So it enables you to create 3D landscapes... Why?
Shinkansen 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Try to render something like an underwater scenery with any other program like Max or so. I don't say its an easy task in Bryce but at the end the quality of the pics could be amazing...
Shashman 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Hmmm... I didn't make my point clear enough... The point of creating 3D landscapes is...? What possible applications would this have?
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted August 28, 2006 I sure hope BIS will take this into account with regards to integration of a release of an island-making tool for ArmA... I'm gonna get this when I get home ASAP!!!
ebud 18 Posted August 28, 2006 Hmmm... I didn't make my point clear enough...The point of creating 3D landscapes is...? What possible applications would this have? Book and magazine illustration, video, etc. There is a world outside of gaming.

Shinkansen 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Bryce <-> OFP I think you can use it in two ways. First there are a lot of Elevation tools inside to create terrain. You can use from there Elevation maps for Island creating. The other point is, that Bryce creates trees via fractal parameters. So you can select a specific type of tree, choose fractal parameters on him and render pics from different angles. Later you can convert these pics to paa and add to OFP. Forgotten: its a render program with lights and bump maps. you can import your mesh as obj or 3ds and use it to make textures (for example house walls). ebud 18 Posted August 29, 2006 There is? Don't shatter my carefully constructed illusions please, Ebud... I swear it's out there Pathy Honest. I used to hire illustrators all the time for some Leapfrog books we were developing and designing. One of them used Bryce for an ocean scene we wanted for one of the Leapfrog game spreads. So there is work for illustrators that can use it.
