e3 dead?

Recommended Posts

1) E3 will no longer be held at the LA Convention Center and will be moved to a much smaller space.

2) The amount of attendees will shrink from 60,000+ to merely a few hundred.

3) The "new E3" will be focused on industry professionals, not the average gamer looking for a scoop.

4) The show will never been the same again.

That sucks.

But who knows it could be better for BIS because they could never afford a huge booth on the e3 floor anyways.

I dont think it will be much of a problem. The whole idea with E3 was, so developers could reach out to the public, but more importantly, to publishers and other game developers.

Many developers have complained that when E3 is this big, they couldn't get their message out - it would simply drown in the crowd.

Therefor they have made it alot smaller (~5000 not just hundreds visitors), and they moved it to August so the x-mas release-games havce more time before presenting their work.

Further more, it will be held at two hotels and games/technology will be showcasting their work from suites. All in all, it will be alot more intimate athmosphear. And I think it's a great idea.

It will always be E3, because the name of the convension is Electronic Entertainment Expo; E3.

EDIT: I think it's good for the business that E3's "carnival" dies. It's will greatly increase the quality the info we get, and it will be easier for smaller publishers/game developers to show off there titles.
