TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Ok heres the deal... I have played operation flashpoint elite since its release date back in oct or Nov... and I decided to buy the pc version... I talked to alot of friends and they told me what stuff I will need for the basics like ffur 2006 and jam 3. I made my own missions for single player but they run slow when there is alot of action and if helos are starting up... If I press esc twice it stops runs smoothly for about 10 min to 10 sec and will start lagging and running choppy again... It seems it doesnt matter how my settings are it always does it and it also takes FOREVER to load missions and exit the game... This is when I run ffur btw... one of my friends told me to put all of my addons from ofp and res in my ffur addons folder along with any other addons I download... also whenever I hop into a helecoptor and start my motor it wines really badly and then stops when I go into 3rd person and then back to first... But my biggest concern is with the slow downs. btw they even happen during the campaign during the cut scenes!!! and while I am at it one of my friends said to make and use mod folders? I have no clue on how to make or do that... Well that is about it for my problems... I figure before I go I will put down my comps specs... 3500+Amd Athlon 64 processor 512 MB of memory soon to be 1.512 GB as of next week 200 GB Hard drive Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card The comp is a HP Pavilion a1210n
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 oh btw all of this happens in ffur res and cwc...
POPKA 0 Posted July 5, 2006 If your after Effects I would recommend ECP over FFUR, I prefer to use it anyway though it dosent come with any replacement addons, though I think someone did make a version with Replacemnt addons in it actually. Or else it could be some kind of Hardware/ Graphics driver problem
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Ok I uninstalled OFP and deleted all of the mods I downloaded and then reinstalled it and ran some sp missions with the patch and it runs smooth as silk... Any suggestions or comments?
POPKA 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Will most likely be FFURS problem then, If FFUR dosent work properly use ECP, it has all the effects and everything, but causes less lag i find.
StealthTiger 0 Posted July 5, 2006 ECP can be found - here.
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 ok I am downloading ecp and I am going to see what that is like. BUT!!! what about mod folders and what is the deal with them. would somebody like to explain to me how to make them and what they do exactly...
smiley nick 51 Posted July 5, 2006 1.) Make a folder (any name but something relevant to your addons) and place it in your main ofp directory (codemasters/operationflashpoint) - eg. 2.) If its just addons you want to run you will need to make a sub folder inside the folder you just created called "Addons". 3.) Inside the "foldername/Addons" put your ofp addons in there. (pbos, drag and drop) 4.) Once your done, find your ofp shortcut that you use to launch ofp, right click it, and copy 5.) Past to your desired location, rename it to represent your addons your running (eg "mynewaddons") 6.) Right click your new shortcut and select properties, look for a box called "target" 7.) There should be a text box showing a command line of text. Should look something like "C:\Program files\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE" 8). Thats your default target to run operation flashpoint. To add your mod folder to run along side the ofp target you need to copy and past the following 9.) -nosplash -nomap -mod=NAMEOFFOLDER, edit the mod name of folder to represent your one you want to use (eg "mynewaddons". Make sure you add that command AFTER the original target with a space. So it should end up something like this. C:\Program files\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE" -noslpash -nomap -mod=FOLDERNAME 10.) click apply and ok, and double click on your new shortcut, it should run the addons hope it helps
wheres my rabbit ? 10 Posted July 5, 2006 to add to that if you want to run multiple modfolders put ; between the names -mod=modfolder1;modfolder2;and_so_on
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 thank you very much for your help guys I will let you all know if everything runs smoothly!!!
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 5, 2006 ECU Runs soooooooooo much better than ffur and the effects are alot better too but one thing I miss about ffur is the smoldering house effect when you hit them with explosives... but its a small price to pay for smooth game play... BraTTy 0 Posted July 5, 2006 I just want to point out that your computer has enough muscle within its cpu but your videocard is very minimal. You should be able to have many units on screen and such but graphics effects will slow down your system (only because of your videocard) Your also losing some performance because you only have 512m (said you were getting more). You will see a difference when you add more memory
shinRaiden 0 Posted July 6, 2006 Quote[/b] ]512 MB of memory soon to be 1.512 GB as of next week Integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card The IGP doesn't have memory, so you don't have 512mb available in that system. Any thing left is likely consumed by XP. Get an addon card ASAP, ti4800's should be available cheap on ebay.
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 6, 2006 ok ummm well... I really like the character modleing in ffur but I absolutely love the effects in ECP and I dont know which one to pick for main use. Which one should I choose? I think I am going to hold back on getting a new graphics card until after I see how the game runs with a whole new gig of ram installed. anything else I should know or any opinions on which program I should run? I will download them both and sit on it till I hear some opinions and suggestions...
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 6, 2006 finally got ffur downloaded and installed for the 3rd time now and ran it for the seconed time without any mods or addons and it ran flawlessly so that means one thing. correct me if I am wrong but I really think getting the extra Gig of ram will really solve my problem along with the creation of addon and mod folders and I should have a smooth running ffur... I really miss some of the effects mainly sound and blood that ECP had but I just cant stand the old character modeling and animations... Is there any more suggestions that you guys would like to make feel free to do so... thank you all for your help...
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 6, 2006 ok back to the topic of mod folders..l. I did everything that smiley did in hopes of making a mod folder for ffur so I can get the ffur effects and well having a mod folder. Everything went well except that it pushed me into the regular ofp intro screen and not the ffur screen? Is there something I am missing here... please help... uberkayser 0 Posted July 10, 2006 Did you add a mod folder to the FFUR shortcut or put an "FFUR" mod folder onto your reg OFP shortcut? As regards slowdowns in -game(with ffur) that only really completely stopped for me when i got a decent gfx card tho' upping RAM certainly helped meantime.Regards. TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 11, 2006 I just bought the gig tonight and I am putting it in tomorrow and I was looking at the prices of gfx cards and I think I will get a new one in a few weeks. And what I did was I created a new folder in the ffur program files folder and named it afganistan and then put in the addons folder in that... after that I created a new ffur shortcut and did all the other stuff and it would appear that it would work but what it would do is take me through the ofp resistance menu... I did everything how I was supposed to... or so I thought...

j w 0 Posted July 14, 2006 I'd choose a GFX-card over 1,5GB mem. If you have the money get both, otherwise, concentrate on a new GFX, cause integrated is not too good for gaming.
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 14, 2006 ok which one of those should I download I am not too sure and I will get a different gfx card then and go from there...
TheFecalMatter 0 Posted July 14, 2006 ok downloaded better drivers and now it doesnt do it nearly as much as it used to and the game runs ALOT better...
