Wobble 1 Posted January 24, 2002 All Area 51 is is a very very highley restricted airbase... where prototype military aircraft are tested... all I know about it is: A: It has the longest runway in the world. B:it has a more restricted airspace than any other part of the US. ... thats about all there is special about it.. what I think is interesting is the fact that the 'stealth fighter" (F-117) was around a VERY VERY long time before we knew about it.. god knows what they have cooked up now.. bear in mind that the parking lot at the skunkworks has been the fullest in the last 6 years its ever been. Frizbee 0 Posted January 25, 2002 Area 51 is actually the term used for the Nevada area base. It consists of: Site 4: - The 'Skunk works' - the development and test area for new top secret aircraft, that has included the B-2 bomber, the F-117 etc. Site 2?: - A Nuclear weapons development and test range - A Standard weapons research and development centre - A deep space telemetary and tracking station Lets face it though. Area 51 is so well known that the government would be stupid to have any aliens there. If anything, they would use a different base, like the Cheyenne mountain complex, and would use Area 51 to keep people attention focused elsewhere.
Wobble 1 Posted January 25, 2002 A Nuclear weapons development and test range I though they were developed at los alamos and there is a treaty banning testing them...
