wip: french wwii era map

hey everyone,

here are some shots of a map that has kept me busy this week.

the aim is to create a small, detailed map of eastern cotentin peninsula (in normandy, that is). for those who are interested i'm covering parts of the area from utah beach to st. mere-eglise and from exit 4 to exit 2. it's not going to be all realistic with distances and places but the major things should be there.

there's also going to be a small set of missions included (which is why i'm creating this map for).

the following images are 95% finished and represent one of the bigger villages/towns. here goes:

streets from the inner part.

along the castle ruins and the bridge, the village features a church, bar, hotel, shops, destoyed buildings and many little details like small alleys and hiding places, enterable buildings with excellent sniping cover (excellent for multiplayer). ai units too handle amazingly well in the village which is something i aimed at.

i'm planning to release a beta of the map with only the village for people to play around with since i'm not sure how it'll perform. this should be around early next week.

the addons used are from linker split's wwii map, so all credit and my props go to him for such an excellent set of objects! smile_o.gif

nice job. but you should resized the stone texture (last pic). the stones are too big wink_o.gif

thanks for the comments. a beta version will be released early next week which will only contain the village and maybe some surroundings. don't know about the final thing.. it'll take weeks. should be available at least through this forum at first.

@ d@nte: which stones are you talking about? i don't see any problem there.  confused_o.gif

I decided to release it a few days earlier than expected, so let's continue the discussion in  this thread. Includes the downloads also.. smile_o.gif

Oh and yes, I will try to import this over to ArmA, cos if it fixes any of the OFP's urban combat "problems" this map would work really nicely! wink_o.gif
