Hauk 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Hmm, can someone tell me what 'CTI' means? I read the entire thread and couldn't find an answer.... Anyway, ArmA looks like its coming along swimmingly, and fair play to BI for working so hard on it Thanks! Hauk
dmakatra 1 Posted March 5, 2006 CTI = Capture The Island. Sort of like an RTS but in OFP. You have one commander on each side which builds buildings. The other players are squad leaders so they purchase units and vehicles and try to destroy the other side.
Colossus 2 Posted March 5, 2006 Hmm, can someone tell me what 'CTI' means? I read the entire thread and couldn't find an answer.... Capture The Island. It's a great gametype which no other game has. Your mission is to capture all towns which can be captured. You will get money to buy infantry/tanks/choppers for every town you take. To capture towns you'll need to kill the local resistance to gain control of the town. No towns, no money. Another way to win the mission is to destroy the enemies base(s) and there Mobile HeadQuaters or MHQ (Which is a M113 for west and BMP for east) A MHQ can build buildings where you can buy stuff: Barracks (Infantry and weapons) , Light Factory (Jeep/UAZ, Ural/Trucks and other light vehicles), Hangar (Choppers and planes), Heavy Factory (M1A1, T72, T80, M60 etc.) etc. etc. etc. It's almost like C&C: Red Alert on Skirmish. Did I miss anything?
llauma 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Sort of offtopic but Capture The Island sounds kind of bad, you really need big hands to do that. Conquer The Island sounds much better to me. I suppose the campaign in ArmA will be much like a CTI but without the building part. A dynamic campaign where the final goal is to conquer the island. Jezz 0 Posted March 6, 2006 I have very mixed feelings about the interview and pictures. On the one hand its nice getting some new info and more pictures but on the other the information given is at times extremely vague good example is the answer to the AI question which to behonest doesnt fill me with much hope at all for improvment over the current ai. The screenshots are well iffy to say the least some parts look nice others are truely awful(shiny tank ect). one thing i am really disapointed in is the terrain it is maybe just me but it really seem to lack ground deatil and vegatation(i dont mean trees) but like some say these are possibly old pictures from before christmas but it raises the question why are we only seeing them now and wouldnt someone from bis have been better releasing newer pictures than these because they must have known they would have been torn apart like they have. I can only hope this is Bis's idea of doing a "rope a dope" showing us rubbish to make final release look good, if not i fear reviewers are going to slaughter it upon release, you need to remember fans can be very forgiving of faults such as poor visuals but your average joe doesnt care. I just hope bis take some of the reaction here as a warning/wake up call
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted March 6, 2006 About Multiple gunner positions (and no more class limitations anymore), it was stated in 2003 by Marek Spanel, about the OFP Sequel which was named OFP2 at that time (it was before they started working on the 2 projects that we know now).I hope it did not change! Quote[/b] ]Marek Spanel: Better look and feel - more detailed vehicle and soldier models, more realistic terrain and vegetation The same core gameplay as in original OFP – do not mend what's not broken - with more user friendly and polished user interface plus some new additional gameplay elements and options Improved addon handling – easier addon installation and managementInteresting single player campaign – even more interesting than in OFP (if this is possible at all) More versatile vehicle structure - multiple gunner positions, possibility to use any weapon system with any vehicle type when creating addons Improved mission editing and scripting capabilities Well-rounded flawless multiplayer support This is from an interview here. But did OFP2 become ArmA or game2? And then, its from 2003 ffs, they still had to begin with ArmA at that time EDIT: i really, really cant spell OFP2 is game2 - and not Armed Assault. For clarification: Armed Assault haven't been worked on in more than 11 months. While OFP (now game2), have been worked on since 2003.
funnyguy1 0 Posted March 6, 2006 from ofp.info "Actually this screenshot showing a kind of exaggerated light reflection on a M1A1 Abrams tank was, beside than being of course a work in progress picture, taken more than 3 months ago! The current work in progress graphics and therefore the final version of the game will almost certainly not look like this, as many have already figured out. Since the interview took some time to be answered, half of the pics are from November /December 2005 and the other half from February 2006. Here are the latest ones (obviously it is ALSO work in progress, that's why some shadows are missing etc " edit: the latest ones = a couple of those from the latest interview of course
M4XSs 0 Posted March 7, 2006 I don’t know why people complaining about how models look in those screenshots, it’s a game that I should have, how shiny or colorful is not that important to me, if the game was as 80% good as ofp then I m really satisfied. NeMeSiS 11 Posted March 7, 2006 if the game was as 80% good as ofp then I m really satisfied. Â Then i would keep playing OFP... But its going to be better, after all, it is an updated version of OFP.
