JdB 151 Posted February 26, 2006 Quote[/b] ]I would like to mentin that ArmA really is a OFP sequel, the fans will get what they already know. I already know what I have, what I don't have, but will get is what I want to know... Quote[/b] ]About jumping, it will not be in ArmA, but there will be other ways to get through fence. My personal favorite, run it over with a tank? (Hopefully it will have some Rainbox Six kind of climbing low fences/walls).

JdB 151 Posted February 26, 2006 Or get the tank stuck onto a tiny wooden fence... Edit: and armored vehicles are not supposed to shine
Jinef 2 Posted February 26, 2006 THANKYOU JDB! Someone else is starting to realise how silly modern day graphics are! The military does not paint it's stuff so that it reflects light, quite the opposite! *jinef mutters* Told BIS a year ago ... *jinef mutters*
bn880 5 Posted February 26, 2006 I'm thinking these captures are older than the latest ones we saw on the official site, and if I remember they de-glossed the armor already. But I could be wrong (again), maybe they really don't understand the concept after all.
JdB 151 Posted February 26, 2006 Someone else is starting to realise how silly modern day graphics are! Depends on how you do the normal mapping. It can look very good, but it tends to be done using just one general set of mind, not keeping into account that different materials and different kinds of covering (like paint, thin paper etc) have their own kind of reaction to light, and not all the same generic effect as seen in many games. At least that is how I understood it from the tutorials that I've read.
max power 21 Posted February 26, 2006 Speaking as someone who is quite a strong 3d artists and who is learnign about vertex and pixel shader settings, all of that stuff can be adjusted. There's nothing inherently shiny about normal maps. The glossiness is a parameter like any other. High gloss does accentuate the features of the normal map, though. This problem here, though, is a problem with the value of the emissive colour, if I am not mistaken. If they turned down the colour value, it would still have the deepish shadows but wouldn't have that specular shine. edit: reviewing those recent pics I don't really see the problem. They don't look like they are shiny. The older ones looked a little glossy, though.
imported_bör 0 Posted February 26, 2006 I see, the czech-english translation has already been done, so there's no need for me to do a german-english one of Lord Perth's this time. But for the german speaking people lurking around: http://forum.gamestar.de/gspinbo....ount=
