GS faces for Llauma head model

Recommended Posts

Yeah, looks great Nightkiller, altough here is a suggestion, maybe you can modify it a bit so it actually doesn't look like a brush.

You can see that effect especially on the first head, the blood looks kinda square and ends up suddenly.

If any one would be interested the Cubans and Specialist are still open for conversion, (unless some one has already converted them).

No problem smile_o.gif

I just wanted to see if people were still working on them. I've tried off and on to convert some faces on my own but I'm never satisfied with my work, that and I have no way of testing them.

It will be a great asset to the community when they are finished. As it is now soldiers with Llauma's head end up looking like clone armies since there are so few faces. Hopefully this project and the group converting BIS faces over will be able to solve that for good.

To all those working on heads: please keep up your good work! I need your effort to make my mod-in-progress somewhat credible!

Of course! I will get them finished, at the end of the day i want to use them too! (if my random image sig flashes the exact right image you'll see both what is taking most of my free time and why i'm all for anything that adds to the llauma heads biggrin_o.gif )

I'll try and set some time aside to do more of the faces.

In addition to the Allied hispanic faces of which there are seven, there is also the 37 cuban faces. The cuban faces still need converted though.

Nightkiller, how goes the work on the wound textures for the Russian faces? The screenshots you posted earlier looked pretty good.

Does anyone know how to get in contact with registered fugitive? I've been unable to contact him. He finished the 31 sniper faces, and if we can't locate him then some one else will have to convert the sniper faces over again.

Phoenix, the faces in the download on the first page are simply tga files and wont work in Flashpoint. This is a project to convert them over to Llauma's head model. Once they are all converted and added to the facetex.PBO you can keep an eye out in the Addons & Mods: Complete section for a download

A small notice for all you folks converting faces. Once you're done, please send me both TGA and PAC files (or at least TGA).

Don't delete TGA files, we need to have an archive of them, just in case... for future use.

The best way to send them to me is upload to rapidshare.de or yousendit and pm me with the link. If you prefer to send it via email, pm me for my address.

Thank you for you attention! smile_o.gif

I'm leaving tomorrow for vacation (I'll be gone ~7-10 days)

So, should anyone need the Ethiopian and USMC faces right away, let me know.

The Ethiopian faces are 81% done (21/26), but the USMC faces are complete.

If your only gone for a week no worries. You might send the USMC faces to Agent smith though if they are all complete.

No, this is simply an addition to the facetex.pbo for Llauma's head model. The original BIS head model and Llauma's head model use different mapping technics so the faces for each are note interchangeable.

I guess it's time for an update on the status of this project.Ok I'm going to be frank with you all, it's in a state of stasis and to be honest I'm starting to believe the project is cursed.

To give an idea of how the project works in theory, well it's something like this.

1. Volunteers download the zip file containing the ghost recon faces which I converted to TGAs

2. The faces are divided into categories, so the next step after downloading is for the volunteer to pick a category to convert to the mapping style used by llauma's head model. The volunteer lets every one know "Hey I'm converting the Cuban faces" thus ensuring the next volunteer wont pick a duplicate category.

3. The volunteer finishes converting the chosen category and then sends them to Agent Smith who will add the faces to the facetex.PBO in an update.

4. The people rejoice.

Now in practice it hasn't exactly worked that way. So far only two people have sent their work to agent smith. I wont name names but you know who you are and I thank you.

How ever other people have finished converting their selection but for one reason or another have decided to not to send their conversions over to Smith. Now I've sent several private messages trying to get in touch with them, but alas it seems they either don't check their private messages, I'm blocked from sending them private messages or they simply have decided it would be cool to keep them for them selves.

After a month or two of non responses to my private messages asking kindly if they could send their conversions to Smith I gave up on them. I decided I'd just figure it out and do it all my self.

Now here's where the story gets real inspiring and uplifting. So I start attempting to convert the allied Caucasian faces my self with photoshop. I send a few test examples to Smith for him to try out and see if they'll work alright, (I can't get oxygen to work correctly to check my self). He sends me some screenshots and what do you know they aren't too bad. The mouth on my conversion is a little off when placed on llaumas head but I can work on that. So I try a few more times and low and behold with each attempt the mouth is starting to get less and less crooked. I'm literally on the verge of getting a template made so that I can start converting the faces whole sale. I have a week or two that I can dedicate almost entirely to converting all the faces my self.

 Then it happens...

My computer decides this should not be. One fine Sunday morning I boot my computer up only to find that some system32 or what ever it's called file is damaged on my computer. Windows will not boot up not even in safe mode. Long story short I have to reformat. I've lost everything including photoshop. I don't have the CD so that's it for me using photoshop. All the conversions I did and the template I made are gone. I can only assume that my computer would rather die than to see me complete this project.

 So where are we at?

Well thanks to the hard work of two individuals the Allied Asian, Allied Black, Allied Hispanic, US pilot, and Sniper faces are all converted and have been sent to Agent Smith. The rest are basically in a state of flux.

Every attempt I've made to keep this project going forward has failed. It's as if an invisible force exist in this universe solely to crush this project.

Conclusion: The GS Faces project is cursed. God hates the GS face project.

So, based on that, it's still 63 new faces for the head model. I think these should be added to facestex2.pbo and realeased. It (facestex2) could always be updated when/if people complete more of the conversions. Also, when/if these get added, will all units using llaumas head randomly apply the new faces?

If someone could post a lil step by step at how they fit the faces to the Llauma reference then i would try to do the russian faces, tried it before but it looked odd but thats because i dont have a damn clue where to start etc.

Btw i know Nightkiller worked on the russian ones ( and finished them afaik ) but as Sputnik Monroe said hes one of those that either cant read their PMs or ignoring them ( doubt this ) cause i also tried to contact him.

Maybe he has to do his IDF service or something ( judging by his signature ).

Shadow, I can't really give an in depth tutorial. I'll try to describe how I was going about the process though.

First I would open up one of the GS face TGAs. Next I would resize the tga to 435x231.

Next I would select the entire image and copy it to the clipboard. After I copied it I'd close the TGA and open up this template...

ghostface3jw.jpg

Then I wold simply paste the resized original TGA face as a seperate layer onto the template and move it into place.

To help with lining it up I would make the copied layer semi transparent so I could see the template face through it. Once I had the eyes and mouth lined up with the back ground template I would then turn off the transparentcy, combine all layers and save as a TGA.

Of course there were a few other steps like changing the eye color, for that I would just make a mask over the eye pupil copy it as a seperate layer and play with the hue and color balance.

The ear needs to be edited a little for each face in order to match. For that I simply would once again create a mask and copy it as a new layer and edit the contrast, brightness and hue.

There also is one other step that has to do with the top of the head. I just can't think of how to describe it. Basically once you have the face lined up with the template you'll notice that a 2 milimeter high strip of the template face will still be showing up below the black area on top of the template. For that I simply would copy and past the top 2 milimeters of the face and drag it into place.

Man I realize that makes no sense. I wish I could describe it all a little better.
