GS faces for Llauma head model

This thread is for the project to convert Ghost Recon Faces over to Llauma's head.

Here is the link to the RAR file containing the Ghost Recon faces.

The .rar contains 349 faces all saved as 256X128 TGA files. Within the .rar I've sorted the faces into folders labeled...

 Personally I would suggest that every one who downloads the rar should co ordinate with one another to decide who will convert which folders. For example person A: agrees to convert the Cuban and Ethiopian faces while person B: agrees to convert Georgians and Russians. This will greatly speed up the process.

If you download the rar please do not simply convert them for personal use only. The end goal is to work together to create a single comprehensive Ghost Recon Faces PBO to supplement Llauma's head model.

 I'll edit this first post from time to time to reflect any progress made.

 Thanks Nightkiller. Sorry for responding late I missed your post in the other thread and didn't notice until today. I've updated the progress report in the first post of this thread.

To every one involved keep up the good work. My math isn't very good but I think the project is about 25% complete thanks to Nightkiller and registered felon.

Fal Al, were you able to sort out the paa pac conversion problems?

Bit inexperienced when it comes to face texturing... are you planning to make a faces.pbo for these? And does anyone have any idea if the BIS face -> Llaumax head conversion project is getting anywhere?

I had a look at a few of the faces meself, Sputz - good job converting them.

 All I did was convert them to TGA files. Nightkiller, registered fellon and Fat Al have been doing the hard part.

 I'm Not sure if it will be one PBO or several categorized PBOs (example GSruface.pbo, GSusface.pbo). Peronally I think it would be best if they could all be in one shared PBO, sort of a standardized face pack that or added to the official facetex.pbo in an update. That decision is for people with more knowledge on the subject of addons than me. In the end I'm just trying to help co ordinate.

 As for the BIS face -> Llaumax head conversion project, that's a seperate project from this one. I don't have any information on it.

Well, you have the choice of sending them to Offtime / Llauma (or eventually, me) so that they will be included in facestex2.pbo or you may condemn yourselves (is that the right expression? crazy_o.gif) to the hell of unstandarisation and release your own .pbos.

Of course, I don't recommend the latter one. wink_o.gif

That would be excellent. Personally I was hoping that would be the outcome all along, I just wasn't sure if you'd be interested.

Sorry, I didn't realized you created a new thread.

I haven't really tried, I've just been saving them as JPG for now...

However, if anyone can post what Photoshop export settings for TGA files that the PAC/PAA tool requires, it'd be very helpful

32bit TGAs seem to work fine for me in Photoshop, along with the Hamming/Blackman MIPMAP setting in PAATOOL with no sharpening.

EDIT: Another question, should I be blurring out the eyes on the texs, considering that the model actually draws the eye texture from the right-hand side?

I try not too, but sometimes if you load the textures on to the model, they will look all weird around the eyes as their is an extra set there, so I tend to blur them where I need too.

I'm doing the white allied faces right now, they're abit low res, but they look alright - half of them won't be usable thought as they have straps across the chin (and are identical to the non strap version), so the number will probably be around 20 faces from that folder.

Is this OK?

 That's something I had pointed out in the other thread. I noticed that basically each of the allied faces has three versions; Default,Desert and cuban. The Default and desert versions have chin straps but the cuban ones don't.

 So for example, icg_wht_cmo_01_desert.tga

                        icg_wht_cmo_01_cuba.tga

                        icg_wht_cmo_01.tga

  Are each the same face, (white face 1) but with differnt face paint. It's probably best to only convert the allied faces with the _cuba extension as they are the ones with out the chin strap.

 Only using the faces with the _cuba extension still gives us  20 caucasian, 7 asian, 15 black and 8 hispanic faces for a total of 50 faces which is a nice variety. Plus add in the 31 sniper faces Registered Felon converted and you end up with a grand total of 81 faces for west troops.

 So long story short... It's definitely ok smile_o.gif

 Also thanks for posting the screenshot, they look great. Thanks for offering a helping hand.

I updated the list in the first post to reflect the usable face count for each allied folder and the modified final total.

Ah, once someone gives every model in the game Llauma heads - OFP will be looking very much like AA 0.9! Great job, guys! notworthy.gif <- first one of these I've done in a while.

This thread isn't about the head model but if you want it you can find it in the facestex2.pbo by offtime.

Here's a slightly modified version with simple teeth textures + it contains more lods (incl. a few alternative first lods). I haven't tested it so I'm not 100% sure that all the selections are accurate but I think they are.
