I think the picture is real.

There is nothing that says that the fence marks the outside perimeter of the base/facility. The damage to the asphalt indicates that the forklift did indeed drive off the loading dock, and we don't know where the center of gravity is on that thing.

More of the bomb cradles (and even bomb tailfins) are visible on the left.

yes we had a British base aroud here and the fence looked the same. it was a fence some trees and then another fence.

Yes - you would be surprised to know how the norwegian "home army" stores their weapons! It's pretty much just a shed in the woods with a simple lock. Basically, you only have to bring a hammer and knock the lock right off - and there you are! No wonder Hells Angels over here have lots of Heckler & Koch's!

Yeah - I believe this quialifies as military stupidity!

Sweden might be a different matter though - they don't even have locks - because they trust their citizens to stay away from illegal actions

I remember a story about how a low flying tornado was caught on a speed camera in Scotland, all the police saw was their speed charts going up to 300 mph!

But the tornado got a RWR signal and jammed the camera with ECM!

Not really stupidity, just a clah between the two worlds of military and civilian.

The funny thing about firearms safety here is that there are less demands on securing military firearms then civilan ones. The national guard has old crappy safes and most of the firearms in criminal circulation are stolen military firearms. It's not entierly uncommon that criminals have HK G3's and FN MAGs. Fortunately nobody has been killed so far by a criminal armed with military weapons.

One of the more absurd situations was when Hell's Angels got hold of a Bofors AT-4 Law and took a shot at the Bandido's headquarters. The AT-4 being a HEAT weapon made a small hole in the wall, making virually no damage inside.

Fortunately they are upgrading the safes now to stronger ones whith fingerprint and voice id checks.

Although this is not a joke I'd like to present some similar but tragic events that has taken place in Norway lately.

Unfortunately, as many as 10 people - mostly women and children have been killed by their husbands the last 12 months.

The weapon of choice was their service-weapon the Hecler & Koch AG3 - stored at home.

The "the home-army" of Norway is very similar to the Swiss version and of course the weapons have to be stored at home. But populare pressure and demands from various politicians are finaly showing results as vital parts of the gun must be handed over to their respective army district authoroties.

It's just sad that it has taken so bloody (litterary) long time!

You would be surprised to know there are lot's of Hells Angels and Bandidos gangs in the whole of scandinavia. Actually, there have been bomb assacinations, drive-by shootings, robberies and lot's of people have been killed.

Denmark and Norway has had their fair share in the 80's and 90's and even RPG's have been used. A month ago there was another murder in the rivaling wars between HA and Bandidos.

They suck big time - and use harleys. Hehe, another example of europeans looking to US for inspiration. Hell, I'd like to see a european inspired motorcycle gang (joking of course) and it would probably be called "Hells Bambinos" and drive BMW's

hells angels are forbidden by the "Verfassungsschutz" in germany i think. they are a synonymous for organized crime, prostitution, drug dealing, and extortion.

wow. Hell's Angles in the US were a rough bunch but never managed to get their hands on military hardware and considered fighting w/ guns to be cowardly and unmanly. they perfered the fighting up close and personal w/ only such things like knives, chains, and other blunt objects as their weapons. now they no longer ride around causing trouble. instead now they are helping comunities by going on tours. they known go on tours to raise money for funding cures for dieses, sick children, comunities they once occupied, some very generous things.

you would be surprised how much it happens round me but you never hear about it. once i remember the police where with the radar guns on the A52 and the harriers from wittering were bombing there (at the range). the police thought it would be funny to see how fast the harrier was going, so the prats pointed it at the harrier and pulled the trigger. the gauge read about 400 mph and then jammed. the harriers ECM had jammed it and locked onto it. (good job it wasnt the yanks or there would have bin one less lincolnshire police officer). the superintendant wrote to the station commander of wittering asking for money for the broken speed gun. the station commander wrote back and said "if your officers want to point radar guns at my aircraft they must be prepared for the conceqenses"

Not really true.

We have Mathias Flink, the drunken soldier, who shot and killed a bunch of people.

A group of bank robbers shot and killed the son of a man that followed them after the robbery, with a AK-4 I believe.

Not completely sure about this, but werent the Malexander killers partially armed with military weaponry?

There were also a couple of deaths during the MC gang-wars and during this time they used anything from AK's to RPG's and handgrenades.

So, there have been a couple of deaths but not many considering the amount of weapons in circulation.

I remember in the good old days, when I worked for the Swedish Airforce, I could drive around with a car loaded with HMG's, AK's and ammo up the whazzo. Now you cant do that anymore, need escorts and such. I guess someone is slowly learning their lessons. : )

Flink was a psychopath but he wasn't part of any criminal organization or something like that.

Are you sure that there were casualties when military weapons were used? I know that when they used that RPG they did minimal damage and nobody was hurt. (Well, HEAT warhead against a concrete wall, you do the math).

I am not sure who died from what exactly, but I remember an incident where two handgrenades were thrown into a room where some MC people were partying and I think there were one or two deaths at that time.

And yeah, no one died when they used the RPG, but it sure got a lot of attention
