Hi all

Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian Army Royal Guard, Nils Olav was today Knighted in Scotland.

Born in Scotland, Sir Penguin Nils Olav (his full name and title) looks very imperious when he pauses to inspect various members of the Norwegian Royal Guard, which is quite amusing. He is the Second member of his Family to be Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian Army Royal Guard.

The video shows him inspecting the Royal Guard before and after being Knighted.

Kind Regards walker

Tank mating time! That doesn't look particularly bad, actually.

In the Finnish Defence Forces once upon a time there happened an ugly BMP-2 crash, in which 2 BMP-2's were driving in a winter-ish forest and crashed together in a pretty-much head-on collision. They were practicing "heat" situation so they weren't driving slowly, but at the best speed which the terrain made possible.

Why could they crash like that? The other tank drove from a forest to a road over a small "hill" (not a hill but can't think of a better English word now) which blocked its view. The other tank was driving on the road and suddenly got another tank come from slightly upwards direction right to its nose.

The crews hurt their faces badly and the tanks went into "not worth to try and repair them" condition.

German soldiers improvising winter camouflage, during the invasion of Norway in WW2.  rofl.gif

This is one of several newly rediscovered German pictures from the Norwegian campaign.

Same source and period as sk3pt posted. Thought it was kinda unique as you rarely see humorous pictures from the second world war.

An infantry squad is in a combat exercise. They have to get past a river, but the only bridge has a sign on it which says "Destroyed!". The squad crosses the bridge nevertheless. When their CO sees them with his binoculars all of them are carrying smaller signs saying "Swimming". ;-)
