@cero 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Hi there, I been away from OFP for some time, and I just thought about popping in with an idea or question that may make air warfare more interesting in OFP. Can small walls or objects bee placed for a few seconds following the path of a drop comand generated flares, so a flare when launched would create one or various solid and trasparent objects that may get on the way of anti-air  missiles? The way I imagine it is, you are in a plane or choper, you are locked by enemy, an alarm sounds to let you know, you select flares and fire a burst of them. Flares are generated by drop comand, this will not stop the missile, but at the same time one or various small objects are generated around the flares, or around the area where the flares are. The missile, on its aproach to your air vehicle comes across this objects that are transparent but have colission lods, then the missile hit the objects and explode, or maybe, if there is not that many objects just fly by them and destroy your vehicle. That would be more kick as than just making the missile misshot. Can this be done? Thanks. @CERO.

hardrock 1 Posted November 11, 2005 Yep, this can be done, and this most probably will be done.
gandalf the white 0 Posted November 11, 2005 ECP Mod, Y2K3 mod, FFUR mod, check them out... flares have been out for quite awhile read what he said. It's possible, and imho a bad way of handling it. if a plane would fly against such an object it would simply "stop", and drop down to the ground, that aint pretty, at all. A script with a X chance of simply destroying the missle would suffice imho, the current problem is that allot of flare scripts are automatic, and always work. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted November 11, 2005 Seconded. I find I'd rather just turn any blocking/deflecting scripts off (leaving the flares on, of course), because the missiles in OFP are notoriously erratic anyway. Otherwise, they never hit anything. Well, yes, the way is been handle by them other scripts is not bad, but more of them just deflect the missile. Like you say, a script with an X chance of simply destroying the missle, would be very good and chances are it would be more CPU friendly. However, the idea of creating objects alongside them flares is that them objects only are there for a few seconds, so if the flares are fired to eraly the objects will be deleted by the time the missile gets to them, so the pilot needs to time the flares a bit, requiring some skill, making it more fare. This way, I very much doubt a plane will crash against them, lol, it will have more chances to crash agains the plane that just fired the flares than crashing against a few objects that have a life of a few seconds. Now, a script that can destroy a missile when the missile is in the area where it will encounter the flares, well, that would be excelent. Regards. @CERO.
