Windows media player

Recommended Posts

I am having major problems with windows media player 10. I am currently running windows xp home edition completely updated. When I try playing videos it freezes up. I either have to ctrl alt delete out of it, or reboot. The only programs I have running are my razer mouse tray icon, and norton antivirus 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is most frustrating.

The microsoft support is a joke, and yes I already tried. I even tried calling them, and they wanted $35 to talk to a tech support guy...BS Anyways thanks in advance...

Maybe a missing codec or the DRM (Digital Rights Management) kicking in?

I would first install a different media player with which I can play the file. By that you can verify whether it is a problem with the Codecs or this maybe even fixes it!

Thanks for all the advice. It's a new computer I just built, so once everything was installed I just updated all of it. I have downloaded so many codecs, and nothing seems to work. I'll keep at it though. I'm not familiar with DRM (Digital Rights Management) but no messages pop up. The video I'm trying to play is the consipricies mod trailer for OFP, as well as some random videos that show up on myspace.com for peoples profiles. Thanks again, hopefully this will give me some resolution.

I don´t trust WM10 anyway.

It´s slow and does too many things I am not aware of.

I´m still with WinAmp and have nothing to complain about.

Go and get the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack it updates most of the codecs on your system (reduces the chance of any missing codecs & adds the most common ones) and installs media Player classic - removing the need to use MP10.

I’ve had some stuff in the past that wouldn’t play on MP10 but Classic played easily.

Hope it helps.
