FFUR - Huge Release !!

Downloaded SKYPACK yesterday and now I´m not quite sure what to do with it (install). No readme.  help.gif

Hi,

It seems that there are 2 sources behind the CTD, Skypack & Death anims, everything worked propely when both of them have been removed, though.

Maybe some other problems could be behind it as well, we will inspect the whole stuff in the hope to spot'em.

Anyways, the patch we're currently working on will be tested on a dedicated server in order to make sure that there would be no problem so far.

Btw, If you wish to customize your music folders then get a look at stainer post in the previous page.

No, if you would do that, you will have a lot of missing animations in game.

85' themes will have new packs because the whole stuff will be updated and a lot of enhancements will be carried out.

I just updated my Montignac mission to 1.5 fixed and where the heal thing was i added Day and Night Option..

also i fixed the Hard setting so it doesnt crash.. it was my error :/ i had forgot to do something, but it crashed server last night on meduim.. so.. but anyways its all fixed so have fun just thought id let you knw that the hard setting crash wasnt due to ffur

Because i've got a simple 56k at home and my admin at work will kill me if i download a bigger file than 100 mb.

some things in the world are worth to take the risk to be killed by an mercyless admin........ffur2006 is one of these things.....

Btw, Avoid the use of "Download Manager" and other such tools, they tend to break 'The installer architecture' and this might cause some serious data 'corruption' troubles.

The link has been tested with Mozilla FireFox and everything worked as it should, though.

Or in other words, make your target line in the properties of your FFUR 2006 shortcut look something like this, depending on which drive you have OFP installed on etc

The launch program I made which came with the mod includes those parameters by default; you don't need to and can't add them to the launcher.

I have question regarding the music: These music replacements are great and give a lot to athmosphere ingame. Now im asking does anybody know real names of these songs and from what movies/games/series are they? Though I regocnized some of them (Hans Zimmer stuff etc.)

Dont know if its asked before and im not gonna search the whole thread ( Whopping 180+ pages! )  crazy_o.gif

I have to be honest I was kind of dissapointed. First of all, the game crashes way too often, and I can tell that I am not the only one who complains about that. So, it is a problem. Strange choice of sound on satchel charges. What were you guys thinking? The music was terrible, imo. I was playing the Resistance campaign and sometimes the music was so loud, I was flinching! It distracts, pluse several times it would go over the in-game conversations. The choice of music is not the best either. Remember in original OFP when the music tracks would play, it would create the atmosphere of suspence, danger or just relaxation after the hard fought battle. I think BIS did a great job with soundtracks for the game. This soundtrack sounds like a random collection of rock songs from the 80's, like someone just copied from the radio and slaped it in the game without any particular order. All music kind of sounds the same for different scenes, so there is no same "feeling" like in original game. Just a stupid adrenalin rush, reminds me too much of a Quake.

Everything else was very good. The animations of soldiers getting shot, the explosions, recoils, ethnic voices, choice of small arms. Most of the game was very well thought through, but those little things that I didn't like, kind of spoiled the game for me. Plus the constant crashing. I uninstalled the FFUR yesterday.

First of all, many thanks to the FFUR team - really nice job.

However I have to agree with COMmunist here.  It is a great all round effort (as always) but the game seems to crash all over the place.  I'm trying to replay the Resistance campaign and can only do about 5 minutes at a time.  The cut scenes are also either crashing out or interupted by God awful music (imho) which is totally out of place and detracts from the story line.

I've a high end machine so that's not the prob.  Neither have I installed either of the sky packs.  I am able to play all the previous works by the FFUR team so this is a bit of a suprise.

Hope there's a patch on the way and if there is - please - return either the BIS or the 2005 music.

Problems I can see with FFUR + some ideas.

(not enough praise for it naturally, couldnt begin to list all the good points)

-music is - as has been said countless times - completely out of place

-new handbook in the map, and debriefing books aren't nice

-berghof's nature pack is detailed, but too bright and colourfull and worsens the LOD 'popping'. A mixture of the orginal and resistance vegetation would be fine I think. Anyone else with me on that?

-the fading in the menu is really annoying

-AI have become overly accurate I think. I enjoy the realism, but is it very realistic for a farmer with AK47 to spot and shoot me from hundreds of feet away within seconds? (Red Hammer campain).

I know trained riflemen can engage targets at the weapon's maximum effective range - and above - but i think the AI has become too accurate and long in vision. Im likely to be told off for being either a poor shot, or trying to make the game arcade style, but I shall just have to risk it.

Wondered if anyone else has been using this mod mentioned in this thread :

Im refering to the material properties addon. It seems little known, and works very well on certain addons. I wonder if anyone is intrested in its implementation into FFUR. Yay or nay?

Can the hand signals command system be implemented into single player campaigns perchance? It would greatly increase both the realism and immersiveness I think.

Id appreciate anyone else's opinion on this little rant of mine.

To solve your music issue just delete the music.pbo in the ffur2006\Dta folder.

I sincerely feel sorry for you guys. It hasn't crashed once for me. sad_o.gifwow_o.gif

You been playing it on MP.. thats where most crashes are comign from.. btw they are brining out a patch soon so be patient.

i have also many ctd's, sometimes it comes very quick, after a short period of palyin, sometimes i can paly some hours without it.

the over-accurate ai-fire is makes some missions unplayable - i.e. in missions with heli-insertion. i die many times beeing shot down in the transport helicopter and with me the half of the squad.

i think its good to make the ai weaker in aiming at long distances.

this mod is a pice of great work - but it needs a little bit more balance by a patch

Please people, avoid repeating the same thing 1e10 times, as already mentioned, the patch we're currently working on is totally focused on this.

Only Resistance songs have been replaced by 'Rock' ones, they might not fit but they are people choices.

The rest of songs has been replaced 1 year ago and nobody complained about'em thus far.

Anyways, I think we will take the new songs out of the pack and will put back BIS tracks or will replace resistance songs by classical and instrumental ones.

This has already been done especially for tanks, choppers and jet fighters.

It's hard to enjoy everyone, but we would probably decrease the AI abilities.
