Release....

Recommended Posts

i still say BIS will let OFP: E sales flow a bit, that game will bring OFP back to peoples´ minds. just take a look at the first few reviews. Bis don´t want to sell ArmA to community people only, don´t you think?

they have all the time they want with a console title just released and i´m sure there will be SOME pc gamers drooling over OFP: E but can´t play it biggrin_o.gif . And BIS know that nener.gif .

Oh trust me,get a flow of some AA pics in sunny area's and stuff where the bump maps show and believe me they will get alot of people wanting it. Though to be honest when I compare OFP2 to bf2 somehow bf2's shaders and bump maps look...weak...but thats a whole different subject, anyway.

These day's I'd guess about 60% of the gaming population now rests on graphics, notice how usually when you hear people talking about a game one of the first things they say "whats the grafix?" or "release the game the graphics look good!" or something like that...I don't think like them so I can't really word it correctly.....though ofp2's stuff sure catches my eye but thats more of a virtual reality...in military thing, hmm,if VBS ports to that I might have to get it afterall...DAMNIT STOP GOING OFF TOPIC banghead.gif okay its late and I'v been up all night,audio....adio's. goodnight.gif

No revolution!? crazy_o.gif

How about:

JIP (Join in Progress) for multiplayer

New scripting possibilities

redesigned collision detection system

DirectX9 support

Extreme weather effects(waves, wind etc)

Individual trees

Consider that so far Operation Flashpoint from 2001

is still unchallenged as a combat simulator game, I call all

this(which is the little we know for sure, more info

is probably coming soon) a dam major revolution!

This is no simple OFP 1,5 we are facing

and if it is, then its a hell-uva upgrade. IF placebo says

that ArmedAssault looks more like game 2 then a simple

upgrade, you better listen!

Thas just evolutionary....

revolutionary for ofp are dynamic campaigns, a new level of terrain interaction (dds) true large scale operations and a completely new physics engine.

revolution will be in OFP2  wink_o.gif

Armed Assault will be a small but memorable revolution too, because OPFR is still a revolutionary game today, maybe ARMA will turn out into a improved, up to date revolution...

When will the revolution take place is the real question, i know im prepared wink_o.gif ...

Revolutionary, evolutionary, who cares, the main thing is that it's gonna be the greatest *king war game in the history of earth so far.

Well, ArmA might not be the greatest game ever (I'm sure there'll be phalanxes of people who will find something to criticise it), but even if it's a slightly updated version of OFP, you'll be able to play it again, and again, and again, and again, and so on and so forth. There aren't too many games which you can do that for, and seeing as OFP is already unique in its genre, all Arma can do is improve on that position. I'm prepared to wait for as long as it takes...

Arma will be better than OPFR itself so how can it not be the greatest game ever? That really made no sense here, sry.. and im not prepared to wait has long has it takes neither, i will wait but i dont want to, it kind of feels we should be all playing ARMA already sad_o.gif . Arghh the pain!! crazy_o.gif ?!

My two cents ...

will explain how i imagine recoliutions and evolutions ...

Example ... revolution ... and hop ... we have got socialism ...

once again revolution .. and hop we have got democracy ...

revolution .. hop .. and we are back at dictatorship. yay.gifwhistle.gifgoodnight.gif

So ... revolution was HL1 ... wooow ... big science labs crazy_o.gif with crazy stuff going around ... revolution .. OFP wooo ... real war sim ... do what you want, use what you want ... and arma, in my opinion, as upcoming game 2 is evolutionary product as HL2 ... idea is already been released to masses by BIstudio on 2001 March (OFP Demo) ... now we only tweak it a bit ...

game 2 is a rpg with f/tps fighting in it, as this idea havent been seen from others b4 that makes game a revolutionary product, while ArmA is cross generation evolution of a already great game with upgrades/better supports/little new things added , the release of ArmA is a big fallow up on OPF engine based game

if you somehow dont understand the idea you better go looking inside your dusty dictionary

now back on topic if you dont want Placebo to close this post  icon_rolleyes.gif

there is no sure of what is the release date from the begining, since BI only said that they hopefully it could be release at 2005 fall which makes the release date remain in the shadow, and dont forget that the publisher is still TBA(to be announce)

Quite simple. As soon as BIS knows what the release date will be, they will tell us as soon as they see the need to do so.

would it be too much to ask about what they need to get done?

and I dont think they release allot of pics because the graphics keep changing. first the grass looked like OFP:e's, now it looks more like Game2's, odd shadows included tounge2.gif

yes, i am playing ofp since 4 years, currently with ecp mod (only sounds). further more, i have a 3,2 ghz p4 pc with gf gt6600, 1 gb ram and a 19" flat screen.

i have graphic setting at maximum (frame rate, resolution etc) and i use 8x anti-aliasing.

i have to say, that ofp looks with these settings like an actual game. its foto-realism, partly. in addition i use a 5.1 surround sound system and a beamer wich supports 1280*1024 resolution. for me it is, if i am an actor in a war movie :-) i hope that i will get in the next days, the uk version of ofp elite to have a first look on the new features (waves, wind, grass for instance) which we can expect from armed assault.

but from my point of view, the ecp sound mod gave the most benefit to ofp and i hope that

a) arma / ofp:e will have it

b) ecp mod will work with arma

btw, i am still wondering why there is no competitor to ofp since 4 years... (due to the fact that ofp is a million selling game)

see you....

We may not even need ECP with ArmA.  whistle.gif If a bunch of guys who didn't do it for cash and who live really far away from each other can accomplish as much as they did, just think what a programming team who works right next to each other can do now that they know it's possible. One of the finest programming teams, might I add. thumbs-up.gif
