The scooter has always been one of my favorite Navy/Marine Corps aircraft of all time. It's just a beautiful little workhorse of a plane. Nice job! It would be great to see someone do a Blue Angels skin for it.

I've been thinking about that for a while.

In the meantime I'm putting the finishing touches to a USS Intrepid version of the A4. Hopefully the conversion wont take more than a couple of days.

A note on the current version: An issue I realised I've overlooked is the droptanks not functioning correctly all the time. Will fix in the next update.

Also the Mk82 bomb version has a built in random dud function. This is scripted to work over both land and sea with differing effects. This is experimental. Feedback welcome.

The sea hit effect is proceeded by the normal explosive flash. I'm looking for an alternative that will eliminate the flash over sea, but stll retain it over land.

BTW this is part of my Nam contribution which will be worked on from time to time.

I think they do now, but the A4 was used some years ago.

@ Klink:

With joystick, it handles a bit nervous but is still flyable. Would be nice to see some tweaking on this.

hi,

I was wondering that the version of A4 Skyhawks Kilnk has blessed the OFP Community with has a "'hump" between the cockpit and the tail what is the hump for does it house anything?

Apart from that its a great addon love it, its made a good addon even better

The hump contains avionics. It was introduced on the A-4F IIRC.

Nice to see an update of this addon Klink, the old version was still one of the best OFP aircraft addons around IMO. I've had one or two bugs come up with this update though; I can't get the sidewinders lock on to targets by right-clicking and I get an error message when ejecting, it said somet about a missing file, somet to do with 'wind' I think.

Oh... one problem.... was that hump on the A-4F in place during the Vietnam War? If not it might be good to have a older variant for use with Vietnam missions. Otherwise I guess this plane belongs more for 1980's missions.

If I'm not mistaken this A4 was originally made for the Falklands Mod with FAA (Argentine Air Force) or CANA (Argentine Naval Aviation Command)  colours, since these were used during the the conflict.

As for the different variants, you can find som info

here

*Edit:

It seems that the ones used by the FAA and CANA during the conflict were infact without the avionics "hump". Argentina didn't use the "hump" version until 1994.

CANA Skyhawk

FAA Skyhawk

FAA Skyhawk (post 1994 version)

USS Hancok was used in the Vietnam conflict between 1965 and 1972.

The A4F depicted in this addon is basically correct for the era 1969 onwards.
