crashes.. are 1.94 and 1.95 patches necessary?

Recommended Posts

I have been experiencing crash to desktop on host machine when I play my own MPMission.

I heard too many addons could cause CTD.

I have created mod folder and under this mod, there are 47 addons.

My MPMission has used both in-game addons and the mod addons.

When I replace one of my mod vehicle used in the mission with the in-game vehicle, it works without crashing.

Whenever it crashes, Flashpoint.rpt will report:

I read about -nomap, tried it. Still CTD.

However, somehow my OFP was patched with 1.85, 1.90, 1.91, 1.96 without 1.94 and 1.95.

Do I need to patch it with 1.94 or 1.95?

or could it because too many addons?

or I was wondering about addons conflict too..

Juxie try uninstalling completely then just using the 1.75-1.96 patch for whichever version you have: Resitance 1.75 - 1.96 or GOTY 1.75 - 1.96

caveman are you using -nomap? I'll bet you're not? Search for "out of memory".

which I did and patch 1.96 but it failed

oopss.. sorry my mistake..

I am supposed to patch Resistance..

Got it patched to 1.96 now.

Anyway, tested my mission once, don't get crash

will test further..

but wondering why I need to actually re-install and patch it with only 1.96

Well failed patching attempts can lead to corrupted files so it can't hurt to clean it out and start again, as you found here smile_o.gif

One thing I would like to ask, I re-installed the whole thing, applied 1.85 and 1.96

Do I need to restart my machine before this new patches will take effect?

Why did you apply 1.85 and 1.96 instead of the single 1.75-1.96 patch?

because when I read the install note for 1.75 - 1.96, it consists of patch from 1.86 onwards so I thought may be I need to patch 1.85 too.

It works fine now on one machine, but the other machine not yet

May be I need to restart the machine?

The mission still crashes..

Does ofp have a debugging tool which I can use to track down the memory?

I am running out of idea what I can try out  sad_o.gif

Hmm seems that's the chipset on board the motherboard, if you install an application such as Fresh Diagnose that will tell you.

just wondering..

all of the time the game crash always show the same access violation.

does that mean there is something which is missing?

My magic ball told me crash is somehow related to AI soldiers aiming at the vehicle. It does not tell me anything more, but my guess is something in the vehicle they are aiming at is broken in the model or in the config (missing or bad geometry, missing some required named points, or something like this).

If you do not know which vehicle is it, what you can do is first try to create a minimal repro case (i.e. remove things from the mission and keep as little as needed for it to crash). This way you will know which vehicle is causing the problem, and you can continue by inspecting it and comparing with other vehicles.
