GOON 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Thanks to all you guys posting all the nice pics of my An Najaf Island!!! Really makes it look nice. I'll try and finish it ASAP but would love to hear comments and suggestions.... Thanks again GOON
hidden_spectre 2 Posted January 10, 2006 awesome pic wid the tomcat parvus...rocking as ever
Parvus 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Thank you hidden_spectre  @GOON: my suggestion is the area surround the city - the city is excellent done (best available palms, houses etc. for desert theme) but if you leave the town area there is a hard *cut from the detailed city textures to the still *clean area surround my tip: ask Catshit if you can use his tex. from Catshit's Afghan Island (pic bellow) one piece i never saw such detailed ground textures (retex Malden not included) P.S. the Limit for Islands map size is open: we have 500MB for one Island at retex. Malden - and it works

GOON 0 Posted January 11, 2006 @ Parvus-Is that the "Revisted" version by AGSmith or the original? And yes I agree that one shown would look awesome. Its the transitions between textures that is killing me...
-HUNTER- 1 Posted January 12, 2006 The MH47 one is nice, Ive tried that but I prefer shooting from buildings, allthough I just got a mega good idea! thanks for making the screenshot and giving me a exceptionally good idea!
Parvus 0 Posted January 12, 2006 @ Parvus-Is that the "Revisted" version by AGSmith or the original? It is the revisted version; greetz
Hornet85 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Jesus Parvus what computer spec you got? i can never get my OFP to look like that
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Just remeber, a high-spec computer doesn't isntatly mean the screenshots you take will be good There are plenty of good films that aren't multi-million dollar, that are a million times better than the "huge" special-effect films - Ben
Sepe 1 Posted January 13, 2006 True, what you need for cool screenshots is the newest version of Adobe Photoshop. And as for the movie part, right again. Good FREE movie and well, as for the high-budget crap, just open your TV at 2100-2300.
BlackScorpion 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Yeah, Star Wreck rules... the budget (well, cost) was around 13,000 (thirteen thousand) Euros... while a second (! of Titanic cost around 17,000 US dollars, just to give you a scale of the budget. Still looks nearly better, though.

Daniel 0 Posted January 13, 2006 You try saying that when all you've got is GIMP! I mean, come on! Why on earth did they call it that! Â
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Yeh, that name is a bit.. unfortunate Though they did rename Film GIMP to CinePaint, so theres hope yet And I didn't mean Photoshop in general, it's just that people seem to think crappy photo/screenshot + Photoshop (Or GIMP etc) instnatly becomes great.. Which is doesn't, you have to have something decent (Decent, not just extremely high-res..) before you can do anything worth while (most of the time, you can make good images by editing crappy ones, but it's fairly hard, and easy to make it crappy) ..crap in, crap out.. Sure you can blur, change the saturation, etc to your 2800x1600 images, and make it shiney, but thats all effects-films are, "post-production-porn" Make something better - Ben
deanosbeano 0 Posted January 14, 2006 you dont need any editing at all ,if you slide viewdistance to max and quality too, when you printscreen on something close and weather /time of day/etc is good for effect. any enhancement is not needed. lately the ofp pics have become same ole ,same ole , and loading a page is sloww , we should maybe start usung thumbnail links ? p.s i am guilty of the above, but realised it aint necessary, just a p.o.v
Parvus 0 Posted January 14, 2006 ... it's simply boring: *Onix-hate-PSP-campaign* => but don't feed him ... you will never get it stopped ... P.S. show us what you mean in pics Onix! show that you are better then your ...words
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Erm, I don't hate PSP, or Photoshop, or GIMP.. Infact I use it most days, and plan on doing similar things as a job (Compositor, or something on those lines preferably) It just annoys me people aren't putting effort into the framing/contents/etc of the shots, but rather just showing how high you turned the settings up.. I'm not saying stop, I'm just saying seeing the same addon over and over, but on a high-spec PC, is getting boring.. The CP thread is getting repetitve I think it'll be interesting to see what people do with that camera addon when it's done. On that subject, what ever happened to the Dogma-style OFP Photography thread? I think it would be interesting to do something similar once the camera is released.. Maybe limit and editing to resizing, cropping, adding DOF and color correcting? As for DXDLL, maybe a standard config could be used for each (Maybe one for woodland, one for desert and one for winter) What do you all think? (Note : It'd be a seperate thread, so wouldn't interfere with the current OFP screenie thread). It'd be a new look on it, from an acctual photographers point-of-view, not a magical floating camera that you can prescript to anywhere.. A new challange? http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b392/mr_dbr/Newfoundland5.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b392/mr_dbr/Newfoundland3.jpg Not OFP, but it's hopefully acceptable for you? (Both totaly unedited, I didn't even resize them, Photobucket did ) Anyway, again, I'm not telling anyone to stop, I'm not talling anyone to do anything, I'm just trying to make the posts in this thread a bit more though provoking that "good screenie " And hopefully have a decent conversation, if thats not unreasonable? - Ben
Daniel 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Not sure about making another thread, but I agree there could be a bit more "combat" or diversity. Besides that it just looks so cool seeing tracers fly and propelled grenades slamming into vehicles. Â Btw, off topic, but nice photos Ben.
Parvus 0 Posted January 15, 2006 i understand now what your intentions are Onix - i only saw the *critic ... not the intention; but... - the ppl pics you comment wants to show you the *best looking side of OFP - not the crappy one; we all know that there is a crappy one ... - OFP didnt have the *deep-at-pixels to go into such detail like you show (btw. nice pics) - no game has this *deep (example: if you go close enough there are only single pixels to see) - the Combat theme: i guess to show only *in-action is the same like *without-action ... its getting boring; but we have both here in a *good relationship (imho); for me: f.e. my *prepare-to-combat belongs like some *in-combat pics to same category: CP thread (P.S. *in-combat pics wil be 80% explosions ... sure nice but the same like *no-action ... boring without the other ones). but i agree with you : changing the *perspektive will be a improvement of this thread (showing some insects crawling over a screw .. j/k); although to define a *standard for winter/desert ..etc. will cut off the *many-sided of the screens here;

honchoblack 2 Posted January 16, 2006 Thank you for pointing out Tomid`s SU22, I found out that it also has a beautifull libyan version. @Parvus, very nice screenshot with action around the beautifull Hotel Europa. The TP3 objects are excellent, would love to see more pictures of it. @AG Smith, the harbour objects look fantastic, I am interested as soon as I am done with the closer goals. How does the AI behave on the large harbour objects, and how did you place objects on it (WRP or editor)?
