Use a satellite and zoom in

Recommended Posts

EiZei... Let's just stay here in Finland in that case, I think we'll be OK...

If they do attack... Let's do the same than in WW2. But possibly with even better results. Take over Russia for example... tounge_o.gif

Anyways, anyone else having troubles with it ATM? I can't use the Satellite function, apart from the start-up view, but it shows whole USA.

I can see the maps, but when I turn to satellite it's plain tan.

Yep. I've just finished looking around the AMARC bit, some interesting aircraft there.

Satellite appears to be working again now btw.

Hi All

Is this B-2 SPIRIT STEALTH BOMBER the most advanced aircraft anyone has managed to spot?http://maps.google.com/maps?q=....k&hl=en

Or has anyone managed to spot something realy wierd?

Zoom into the pic to see it better.

I just found a Stealth fighter there too.

Kind Regards Walker

Davis-Monthan is indeed the boneyard. They say they're just parking stuff out there, but they mothball them when they park them. After a few years, the seals shrivel and crack, and the oil and lube gums up. Cables and controls soon follow. Even if they were massively overhauled back to flight-worthy status, there's no weaps there.

There is a small white delta-winged aircraft just south, and mid-way between the -117, and the B-2. I don't know what it is.

In regards to the previous "Area 51" photo, the resolution is quite poor, and it's difficult to make out any details. But, towards the northwest end of the Nevada Test Range boundary, there is another, even larger base. The resolution is MUCH higher in that region, and even more interesting is the fact that this facility appears to be bigger, newer, of modern construction, and quite active. There are two of the twin engine airliners that the military uses to fly personel in from Las Vegas, parked right on the apron. In recent years there has been speculation that due to the attention that Groom Lake receives, many flight operations have been moved to other facilities, such as the Green River valley in UT. But, it's thought that that was merely disinformation, or oversight.

Anyway, this installation I've spotted in NV may be the new home to the more classified aircraft projects.

There's also several other large bases in the mountains south of the facility, one of which appears to have obvious tunnels cut into the sides of mountains.

Although the maps are only covering North America they have satellite images of the entire world, but only at a low resolution.

For this is a beta test I'm hoping they get some good pictures of Germany in their final version. I'd like to see my old barracks in Rotenburg, but the Niedersachsen Navigator has only aerial photos of Region Hannover (at least I could find my car).

F-15?

Well, maybe, if the stabalizers were removed. Also, I found either a F/A-22 Raptor, or a YF-23 Blackwidow at Edwards AFB.

Here's a bigger and better pic of "Area 51", 650kb. As you can see, they aren't parking any of their fancy aircrafts on the tarmac or on the roofs of buildings.

Just two of the "Janet" airliners, and what appears to be a couple Beechcraft business props. Any aircraft that are flying out of there, are flying at night, and are never left out in the open for very long, so as to avoid recon satellite overflights. There's also covered "move and scoot" pavillions stategically placed around the installation to prevent detection by unscheduled satellites too.

Personally, I'd say that much is taking place at the Tonapah Test Range Facility that I mentioned previously, or has been moved to the salt flats, and dry lakes several dozen miles west of Salt Lake City, Utah.

One very interesting feature I found in Utah, is a USAF-style base with a housing area, in that same deserted region of Utah, which is obviously supporting a flightline several miles away to the west. These facilities are not named on the map. It's strange for base housing to be located so far from the flightline, and its strange how green and comfortable the housing area looks. But whats really weird, is that it's in the middle of no where! There's litterally NOTHING around for dozens of miles in any direction. People obviously live there, there's cars in front of the houses, and it's SO green. But that would have to be the most remote assignment I've ever heard of.

Hi der bastler

And what is the weird looking thing to right of the two SR1s?

It looks like a small black arrowhead a bit like an F117 but much smaller and more pointed.

I think you may have a winner there mate. I do not think it is a F117 the wing sweep is too high and as there is one at the same Resolution in the map I linked that I have compared it to this looks about half the size.

Something we do not know about?

Kind Regards Walker

I'm pretty sure it's one of the drones they tested out back in the day. They were meant to ride piggy back on a SR71.

m21_01.jpg

It appears to be a small museum. the planes are all bunched up in enclosed space no where near a run way. There is also quite a bit of traffic on the street in front.

Any one want to try to name the aircraft to the west? I spot a F104 Starfighter(this skinny one on the bottom left with the nost pointing south west).

Over the white building block west from the SR71s... Could be Gulfstream or Learjet or something like that...

They're planing on getting a B2 and a space shuttle for their park? Mock ups or real deal?

Maybe real ones in about twenty years or so. All the airframes are in heavy use right now. And they're going to fly the shuttles to death. ( I hope not litterally. )

Maybe it's Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage facility??
