Phleep 0 Posted January 16, 2005 just an idea, but it would make the game look better if you actually saw people climbing into the vehicles, alot of animations though Not really, you have the open door - get in - shut door animation for cars; the climb up - open hatch - get in - close hatch animation for tanks. There may be a few more but that would be pretty standard for all vehicles. Minor adaptations for different heights etc. could be implemented for different vehicles but overall it could be pretty standardardised.
Tau Hammerhead 0 Posted January 16, 2005 so it would be alot easier than it sounds then?
Phleep 0 Posted January 16, 2005 so it would be alot easier than it sounds then? I don't know how much bother it would be but there should be a certain amount they can use duplicate animations for different vehicles, they already have a getting in animation - there is no reason why it couldn't be changed and made vehicle position specific. Probably would be a bit of bother for BIS who are more worried about AI and terrain occlusion but I don't see why it could not be modded or at least partially added. The BIS vehicles had no door animation so it would have looked strange having someone walk through a closed door but the amount of addons with opening doors make it a more obvious step. guyguy1 0 Posted November 24, 2005 I agree that adding these animations, whether partially or fully, is a more obvious step (see post above). IMO, I think that the game should show the mounting/dismounting animations because: 1. It is feasible since there were animations of units mounting into vehicles in OFP, although not in extreme detail. I think that since this game will be the ultimate military simulator, it is absolutely necessary to incorporate such animations for the infantrymen. 2. It is a good idea because it adds to the realism of the game by making it possible to have tactical advantages/disadvantages, depending on if you're one of the men going into the vehicle or the sniper/demolitions guy getting a lock on the soldiers. 3. It is possible beacuse this has been done before in several games and mods, including Flashpoint. The only animations that weren't shown in OFP were the doors/hatches (or whatever they will be) opening and the soldiers walking in. Animating soldiers sitting down and strapping on a seat belt is a different thing; I think that animationwise, soldiers should at least be shown entering the vehicle via an open door/hatch (or whatever the entrance is called) and having it close. 4. Last but not least, camping next to the landing site of a chinook transport and ambushing the disembarking troops would be very FUN and REALISTIC. (Sorry for the old threat digup) Â
meyamoti 0 Posted November 25, 2005 Jeez a 9 month old threat?!.....Ah well what else have we got to talk about eh,that said. Doin somethin like that though would call for the whole ability to walk inside of a vehicle rather then jumping out, yaknow kinda like what you see soldier in real life doing, running out of a helicopter when the rear door opens and such, would add more realism and help you from not getting picked off so easily
