What do you play Ofp with?

Recommended Posts

Guest Ti0n3r
1.6Ghz Pentium M

64mb X600 Radeon

512mb Ram

Hopefully I can play AA at the lowest settings. confused_o.gif

I guees you'll be able to play ArmA on the lowest settings with a good FPS, since Elite ran fine on a ~PIII @ 733mhz, 64mb RAM and ~GeForce3.

(And Elite was damn good looking for being OFP IMO)

I might have to lower the view distance if possible, but I would like to temporarily treat this game as a port of the XBOX OFP.  I don't really see myself getting a super new computer yet. crazy_o.gif

Hopefully AA will run better than the GRAW demo on this silly laptop. wow_o.gif

X-Boxes are optimized for gaming, and consequently run games faster than Similarly speced PCs. Want to see what I mean? Read the min requirements of HALO (PC version) and compare them to that

Indeed. Though my point was that since that computer seems to be more than twice as 'good' as an Xbox it should be able to run ArmA.

I know about HALO. I never played it due to the system requirements wink_o.gif

at home

FX55

2x Raptors raid 0

6800 pci-e 256mb

2gb XMS corsair

right now

2.26 pent m

7800 gtx go 256mb

sata 100gb seagate

2gb of some such memory

when i get it fixed

3.4 pent 4

6800 ultra 256mb

2 gig corsair

The last 2 are laptops

I still have to tone it down on view distance because im picky about FPS and i have to run alot of addons(ie CSLA) and if i were home longer than 2 weeks i would upgrade the home pc. I dunno if a new proc, mobo and SLI is worth it for 2 weeks of use.

My advice to heklos - get a better GPU. It's the Achilles heel of my system right now. Oh 7900GTX, where art thou?

At home i run OFP on:

AMD 64 3000

GeForce 6800 LE 128 MB (LE = poo)

512 MB Ram

And at uni, i use my laptop:

Pentium 4 3 GHz! smile_o.gif

ATI 9700 64 MB

512 MB Ram

Over the holidays I plan to work lots and build a beast of a machine, hopefully with crossfire or SLI or just one really decent GPU.

Please help me out here. I know very little about this.

Is this good?

How can I improve it?

iQon Technologies

Intel Celeron CPU 2.93GHz

2.93GHz, 480mb of RAM

How do I find out what

Graphics card I am using?

I have an odd monitor which is taller than it is wide. I think it is fucking up my gaming experience, but changing stuff in display doesn't do anything about it. What is wrong?

Celeron are the worst kind of CPU's for gaming.

If I were you I'd try to get my hands on a new computer rather than upgrading the old one.

Go to Start / Run / type: dxdiag / click OK

You have everything you need to know in System and Display tabs

Hope it helps

Depending on what kind of video card you have and the drivers for it, you may be able to virtually rotate the monitor in the drivers, then set the display physically on its side if you care to.

I'm running on 1.0GHz AMD Sempron

Are you sure, as far as I knew, the slowest Sempron was like 1.6GHz. Are you sure you dont have a Duron (Sempron's predecessor)

An AMD Sempron will run at 1ghz if your BIOS settings are wrong. I realised a while ago that when starting, the BIOS screen would tell me I was running a 1ghz Athlon rather than a 1.6ghz Sempron.

I went into the settings, check everything to see if anything was wrng. I noticed my graphics adapter was set to PCI when I'm using an AGP card. So I switched to over, and magically my CPU was detected properly.

Athlon 64 X2 4200 (Dual core)

1 Gig DDR (333Mhz, I think - Should I bother buying 400Mhz?)

ATI 9800 pro (My old AGP Card. Prefectly fine for OFP. Ill get a new one if ArmA needs it) smile_o.gif

SATA2 HDD - 200Gb

Works like a dream smile_o.gif

#2 - Now my spare.

Athlon 3000XP (In a Shuttle XPC)

1 Gig DDR (266MHz, I think)

Nvidia Geforce 4600 Ultra AGP

A few old 80Gb HDD's

BTW; My processor hace 640KB cache... Hmm... It's a venice, but is that a difference?

Sorry for digging up old post, but I just thought I'd point out -

128KB L1 Cache +

512KB L2 Cache =

640KB Total Cache smile_o.gif
