Soviet Infantry?

Hey, I'm working on replacing all the models in my ofp with nicer looking ones, but I do wanna keep it realistic for the original campaigns. So no post 1985 stuff.

I've almost found models in addons for almost everything, except some nice looking soviet soldiers, I havent kept myself updated on the massive amounts of ofp anymore, but I've searched every site I know, for soviet infantry. But with no luck.

So I was hoping maybe someone in here could help me out? Maybe ive missed it?

Right now I heard DRF-Mod are working on an infantry with the same sort of camo the BIS units have. The best 1985 era Soviet units I have seen are these

Soviet Infantry Afghan War era (not exactly what you might be looking for)

and also try Vilas' units. Maybe of them are based off of BIS but the weapons are great and there are a few surprises in store like non-camo Soviet soldiers and a Border Guard.

Well... havent seen those from vilas, but no offence to the author, but I would like some better quality textures/models.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait, i hear thats there some underway

I too have been looking for 85 era soviet infantry. Its pretty hard to find real pictures of them too. Is the ORCS infantry too far off? Do they for example use helmets that came in the 90's or something?

The only problem with the Orcs guys is that they got the new Russian patches on them and not the old soviet ones if I'm not mistaken. Until then there are always the BIS soldiers.

Personally I really enjoy the Afghan War era Russian Troops. I've been using that alot on that new Afghanistan map that came out this last week. That and Remo's Afghan pack make for some great missions.

There was this thread about some 85 era soviet troops, unfortunately, the updated screenshots (as the colors that can be seen in the 1st post were reworked a bit) leads now to some forum requiring registration.

But you can always give a look to the 1st post to have an idea of the model

If anyone interested, I posted some pics/links of soviet 85. uniforms and equipment to the thread that Snactuary linked one post up. A few can be used for textures.
