Hello guys.

At the moment I have:

-Everyone of you who fights here today will always be remembered in history. Everyone of you who sheads thier blood with mine shall be my brother. We merry men, we band of brothers. : Henry fifth (slightly changed cause i couldn't remember it)

-The other day my grandson asked me if I was a hero in the war. I said no...but I served in a company full of them...

Any more would eb helpful biggrin_o.gif

Cobra, good quote there.

"And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by from this day until the ending of the world but we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers. For he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother. Be he ne'er so vile, this day shall gentle his condition, and gentlemen in England now abed shall think themselves acursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whilst any speaks, that fought with us upon St. Crispin's day!"

King Henry V

The Greeks have not fought like hero's, hero's fight like the Greeks.

Winston Churchill

Let them hate us, as long as they fear us.

Caligula

Go tell the Spartans, stranger passing by,

that here, obedient to their laws, we lie.

- Hemming Gadh (of Sweden), early 1500's

I translated it from Swedish.

Jute : person from Jutland, some land of Denmark and Germany

The essence of all war quotes: Molon Lave (come and get them) spartan answer to the persian request to surrender their weapons.

And my all time favourite: A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic (from Stalin)

Nope, first one is a well known Churchill WW2 quote, The Caligula quote is from the book I, Caligula and the Thermpoylae reference is because I'm currently reading Gates of Fire. AFAIK none of these are featured in RTW.  wink_o.gif

Edit: wups my bad, just checked the stringtable text files and the Caligula quote is in there.

Quote[/b] ]The only hope you have is to accept the fact that your already dead, the sooner you accept that , the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier supose to function without mercy, without compassion. without remorse. All war depends on it..
Quote[/b] ]"You will be surounded", "It's allright we are paratroopers, we are supost to be surounded"

this is a song :P

Quote[/b] ]The night was filled with dark and cold,

When Sergeant Talbot the story is told,

Pulled out his poncho and headed out,

To check the lines dressed like a Krout,

Upon a trooper our hero came,

Fast asleep he called his name,

Smith! O Smith! get up it's time

To take your turn on the line,

And Private Smith so very weary

Craked upon a eyelid red and bleary,

grabbed his rifle he did not tarry,

Hearing Floyd but seing Jerry,

DONT cried Tab, It's me and yet

Smith charged to sweet, with his bayonet

He lunged and thrust both hight and low,

And skewered the boy from Kokomo

And as they carried him away

Our punctured hero was heard to say,

When in this war you venture out,

Best never do it dressed as a Krout!

-Night Of the Bayonet

Quote[/b] ]"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

~ Dwight David Eisenhower

Quote[/b] ]"War in our time has become an anachronism. Whatever the case in the past, war in the future can serve no useful purpose. A war which became general, as any limited action might, would only result in the virtual destruction of mankind."

~ Charles Evans Hughes

Quote[/b] ]"We have seen the enemy and they are us."¨

Not so much war as just general motivational quotes, but here are three I like:

Semper Fidelis (Always faithful)

Fortes fortuna juvat (Forture favors the brave)

Rus Potissimum (Country above all)

Only Finland - superb, nay, sublime - in the jaws of peril - Finland shows what free men can do. - Winston Churchill, broadcast speech (1940).

Something I saw on a poster in the military:

I am Artillery

My color is Red

Crossed cannons my insignia

Battlefield my bed

My mission is simple

You know it well:

Put steel on target

Make a replica of Hell

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

Wasn't it Goebbels or Göring which said that? I can remember seeing that from somewhere..

Another nice one:

Albert Einstein:

Look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even into death.

"Si Vic pacem, para bellum" - Vegetius, Roman General

Someone said it already in English. That's the latin version.

"To live in peace, prepare for war"

"Come home with this shield or upon it" - Spartan woman equiping her son for war. (Rome is great for quotes)
