Getting shot effect?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Funny how people start talking about the human body and how it reacts to bullits entering at high speed.

What I think you are looking for is a technique to simmulate boddy hits as seen in movies, not per see realistic ones.

Before i entered filmschool (many years ago) i've made many very crappy action movies and one of the things we were very good at was making squibs and penboards to set them off.

If this is what your looking for I can tell you how to make them.

Im at work now and kinda busy but ill try to describe how we did it when i come home tonite.

it amazes me that you all mention good ol' ketchup but not postproduction SFX, compositing, etc. I'm a noob myself, but I'm sure there are some people around here more confident with video editing tools.

Why so amazed? After all this is a public forum for gamers - not special effects video editing forum?

By the way, as a video amateur myself I do a lot of video editing - and I certainly can't use special effects computer generated programmes. I only do editing - but if you buy me a powermac with some rather expencive special effects programmes I'd be happy to learn it though  wink_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]Animals are organic, have blood and organs, generally when you shoot them the effect is similar to that of a human being shot.

Yes and no! The main physical difference between human beings and most animals are solidity of bone structure, larger and stronger muscles and a much stronger neural system for coping with shock. Where a human being would simply drop dead to the ground like a bird being hit by hails from a shotgun - an animal can keep on running for a while even though it's been hit in a critical area like the heart and lungs. Animals endure far more pain then us humans. There are of course great variations among the different species of animals and if we talk about dogs for example you would find variations between different breeds as well. Terriers for example, are known to endure far more pain compared to other dogs - which is a thing an owner ought to be aware of.

Having said that - there are animals that resembles us humans in both bone structure and muscle tissues. That's why pigs are often used for training military surgeons.

I was referring to the impact and damage a bullet causes, not the effects being shot has on the animal. wink_o.giftounge_o.gif

Well, a lot of it comes down to budget, too.

Some of the top end video editing suites are VERY expensive (and of course we are all talking about LEGALLY PURCHASED versions here, before anyone goes and suggests anything resembling warez discussion).

Also, availability of materials: the explosives used in squibs may be prohibited under local laws (they sure as heck are here in Australia, unless you get a special license - and even then you're virtually guaranteeing that you go on some sort of "secret list" of the federal police  tounge_o.gif ).

Personally, while working on some humble film projects with friends, I was amazed at how much you can do without expensive hardware or software...simply with clever camerawork and inventive post-editing techniques.  wink_o.gif

BUt of course, each to their own. If you do have access to good visual effects, props, SFX and editing software, all the better.  smile_o.gif

Hehe.........I checked out the apple shake 3.5 and thought "I say - you can even download it" , and of course I became slightly excited! The price was a real downer though: 27 990,- Norwegian kroner! That's about 2350 GBP or 4550 USD!

So, I think not sad_o.gif

Listen i have done this....

first you hear the bullet shot and stop the scene then add on blood make up and get a mouthful of tomato sauce (yum)

restart the scene quick and the actor falls down.

I did it before for a school history presentation and ended in detention, but so, It still works good crazy_o.gif
