That may be true but one case hardly discredits what the film illustrates -that being, Oil and Gas industry's claim that there is not one proven case of fracking contaminating groundwater.

It's not one case, I could have mentioned much, much more. That film is old news, scientists have had time to go and dig and probe the stories, 90% of which were found to be coincidental natural occurences, hoaxes or plain nonsense. Nominations for media awards mean nothing - that's entertainment value being ranked. The reports are there, peer reviewed, enjoy yourself and hopefully learn something along the way.......

Well, this is a little more analysis on the video of how CSPAN and other manipulated the entire audio, and leaves a couple of little questions about why and what she actually said on the floor which is never actually shown:

Skip 40 seconds into the waffle.

Now, for all the knee jerk "conspiracy" shout-down crew (my pre emptive post), I dont post this for anything more than why what got said was edited (and swapped out) and what a strange outcome in the house of representatives esp the position she had, not some "random" rushing security with banners etc.

Having absolutely no respect for privacy and personal datas characterized totalitarian regimes, and Merkel perfectly knows this, considering her past DDR/GDR history.

But honestly there isn't much European countries can do against it, apart asking USA about what their real values are. Not much hope there.

Oh please, that's nothing. Everyone and their cat's known it's been happening for decades already. The former president of Mexico even went out and asked what the big deal was. Let's face it, it's not like Merkel wouldn't do exactly the same thing to Obama or another head of state if she could. We are spied on by our own authorities well enough, ans that's what we should care about first. First we have to wipe our own floor. I had some rather peculiar experiencres with out own police just this Summer involving my cell phone and my car parked beside the edge of the forrest for two days. at 12:04 on June 12th my phone rang and the officer wnted to know what im doing in that forrest for two days.

the last Time I wen't camping (illegal btw.) I gave a notification to my uncle , the districts detective chief inspector to remain unmolested ;)

If Merkel has been chatting about state secrets or personal things on an ordinary mobile phone it means most of the world was probably listening including some of the media. That is why heads of state shouldn't use them.....unless they are saying something they want overheard lol. With Germany propping up the Euro it means all of Germany's immediate neighbours would have had their headphones on too.

Angela Merkel uses her mobile more than the average teenager. The BBC's Andrew Marr recently created a documentary about her and described how she is constantly sending texts to various politicians at home and abroad in an effort to keep her finger on the pulse and slowly guide discussions and negotiations, as is her forte. It's highly unlikely she used the phone to discuss state secrets but the personal messages she sends would no doubt provide a great insight as to her intentions around the negotiating table.

On the one hand the outrage over this issue has left me thinking "How could you be so naive?" after all spying has never been exclusively applied to a nation's enemies and at times the whole thing seems like a case of a 'storm in a teacup'. At the same time the extent of US spying on allies suggests an element of hefty paranoia which will act as a wall between nations when it comes to cooperation. There is already talk of the long planned EU / US free trade scheme being scrapped or at least stepped back, an essential economic boost for both sides of the Atlantic.

There is a page on Wikipedia that lists all nations strategic/land/sea/air SIGINT assets, it's an interesting read and there are some items in some surprising places. No one has the capabilities of the USA but they all do the same thing when they can, if you look on Google maps they are so sensitive about it, most nations have the facilities blurred out. The mostly fake outrage is an avenue to exploit this new US weakness to further Euroland's national interests. When negotiations get difficult it's an extra arrow to pull out of the quiver.

Everyone has only his own interests in mind, so thats not really surprising that USA are spying on their "friends". I bet the Russians do the same, no one has caught them yet though.

Speaking of friends, I'd like to know, what do they know about Merkel. She behaves like the most loyal lapdog of the USA. Maybe it has something to do with Germany's own Intelligence Service spying on Germans or something about Merkel's past in the GDR.

And I'd also like to know, when Germany will stop being a US occupied territory. I've been in Grafenwöhr Base for Training once, and the US personell did everything to show who's the boss here, including one US soldier spitting on our boots. Not like we poor grunts could say something there.
