How to....play multiplayer?

Recommended Posts

Guest

I feel like a noob asking this,

but in my three years of Flashpoint, I never played online sad_o.gif .

And I don't know how. Once tried gamespy, but it didn't work. Does anyone have a link or some info? I think that the mod's can close this topic when my question is answered.

ps. Yes, I have searched.

Already tried to download All Seeing Eye, the download didn't worked. Can't I join a MP game without having to download ASE/Gamespy?

sure. smile_o.gif

Just click on "Multiplayer" in your main menu, select "Internet" and wait for the ingame browser to fill with available servers. You can sort the servers by Name, ping, No. of players etc. and join your server of choice by clicking on "join".

That's about it. Of course you'll have to make sure it doesnt run any addons or load the required addons before you join.

It's not easy to determine which addons a server is running, the only hint is the modline under the current mapname (usually starts with RES and then the modfolders loaded by the server in question, separated by ; )

Another possibility is to download and install OFP Watch which is supported by several servers and let's you determine and download the required addons.

All of the above requires the OFP Resistance addon, most servers are running version 1.96 and require the appropriate patch on your machine....but I'm sure you know that.

Enjoy

If you have Resistance , just patch up to 1.96 and follow Shrike advices.

If you only have 1.46 , well i think you have only ASE or the same kind of utilities (*argh*gamespy arcade*argh*) to display the available servers.

I guess there won't be many servers for cwc, if any at all. So you need resistance v1.96 for mp. Then just click on multiplayer in the main menu and wait while the server list gets filled. Select a server without a lock symbol in front of it and try to join. If you need addons on that server or the server is temporarily locked you can't join, else you should be able to.

Even better solution: get OFP Watch, select a server there, let ofp watch install all needed addons for you and join.
