BoweryBaker 0 Posted October 9, 2004 Man, some of those events were surprising to see. I am excited about this game. I'd like to know if I'd be smart enough to get out of those situations and use the game as a tool for what i should do if it happens. I hate how people see these games and get all pissed. It's stupid trying to play hero kissing all kinds of butt, when you know you don't care, and its harder to act like you do anyhow. You know it. I don't "feel bad for" those who must suffer the release of this game, because i know they won't suffer, be forced to look at it or play it so why should I "feel bad for them"? Why do i got to match my feelings to theirs and act like I have the same trauma? I don't, and thats what makes the game fun for me. Period. Majority rule. It's dumb to act like this game is harmful, or even that you care about maybe 1000 people compared to the whole world wanting to experience it too.

Gollum1 0 Posted October 10, 2004 Surviving a disaster and probably helping othersvs. Killing hundreds including civilians as a soldier á la Black Hawk Down No I don't think it's offensive. Do not fire unless fired upon. Yep mistakes would of been made like all wars. But the the "civillians" were carrying guns firing at soldiers so the response is fire back. Fact: Many unarmed civilians were killed in Mogadishu, intentional or not, unavoidable or not. But BHD is not the topic here, it is just an example game where you shoot civilians too, often by mistake...
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted October 10, 2004 is it just me or does anybody else think that making a reality game where you asume a role of a powerless civilian who must survive a event based on actual events offensive? http://www.replaystudios.de/survivor/aboutthegame.php gee, a bunch of Isrealies got blown up in Egypt recently, they going to  include that too? or how about the hostage taking in the Russian school? maybe the Mandrid bombing in Spain? sick bastards I partially understand your point of view, however the concept is impious but not immoral. In this game you would play the role of a victim, which in contrast to many other games, is a rather noble role to play. Some games force you to kill civillians to accomplish the mission (recent Vietnam scenarios), this one may even ask you to "save" others from the danger zone and to just get out alive. This game is nothing else than a interactive version of what hollywood caters to us since decades. There are films about Titanic, there are films about 911, about earthquakes and about hostage-takings, why not an interactive version of it (as long as you play the victim)! And they didnt choose scenarios such as the Holocaust, they didnt chose Abu Ghraib, they didnt choose the recent terorist attack on a russian school. I think they deliberately went around face to face brutality. That by itself already shows, that they know the barier of immorality.
Charon-VW:BB- 0 Posted October 10, 2004 My opinion: If there are no people who want to play this sort of game, games of this kind will abandoned in the future (but i think there are many people who want to play it! Perhaps they'll stop playin' if they are confronted with such scenarios in reallife.)
theavonlady 2 Posted October 10, 2004 Some devs should have their brains re-programmed: Quote[/b] ]Planned Distribution of U.S.-Made Anti-DPRK (a.k.a., North Korea) Computer Games under FirePyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean company of computer games "Wizard Soft" is going to introduce anti-north computer games such as "Ghost Recon 2" and "Splinter Shell 3" from the U.S. company of computer games "UB Soft." Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed commentary brands this as a hostile provocation against the north. Â Â It says: Â Â The "Ghost Recon 2" and "Splinter Shell 3" are based on the absurd assumption that the U.S. strikes nuclear facilities in the DPRK and dispatches special units to perpetuate terrorism in anticipation of the contingency on the Korean peninsula. Â Â The south Korean company is going to use such controversial things as means of making money, obsessed with accumulating fortune, at a time when the prevailing situation reminds one of the eve of war due to the nuclear stand-off between the north and the U.S. Such thing can be done only by those who are bereft of national conscience. Â Â The U.S. produced a lot of computer games on the themes of the Afghan and Iraqi wars before igniting those wars. When recalling that those computer games simulated actual wars, one cannot overlook such attempt to introduce north-targeted computer games into south Korea. Â Â The south Korean "Wizard Soft" should cancel at once its anti-national plan to distribute games inciting enmity towards the north in south Korea without any consideration, blind with money-making. Â Â It is an anti-national, anti-reunification criminal act to introduce those controversial things aimed to provoke the north and incite anti-north feelings and conscience of confrontation in south Korea or overlook this practice. Â Â The war game of the U.S. imperialist warmongers can go over to a real war any moment. If the south Korean authorities permit the introduction of north-targeted computer games reflecting the U.S. sinister aim to invade the north, this will only prove their intention to incite confrontation with their fellow countrymen, start a war of aggression against the north in collusion with outside forces. ozanzac 0 Posted October 12, 2004 lol @ avons article It'd be interesting to see what the DPRK's propoganda machine could pump out to counteract the so called "anti-national" games......Something like the sims......where you simulate an american family eating North Korean babies.
