Shalashaska 0 Posted September 26, 2004 I am not the most wise and insightful of combat and military actions, but wouldnt this be terribly unwise? Nothing to rest against you, the recoil must be tremendous...and folding stocks were designed to lessen weight and manuverability. So why arent they even used? Its not insulting FDF. Great mod, only problem is when I yell at the finns for not using the folded stock.
Shalashaska 0 Posted September 26, 2004 Lol. I figured as much. :P That I was incoherent. What I mean is for a weapon such as the Rk 62 *With folding stock* used by Paratroopers and other units in the FDF mod, they have the stock folded? I assume the high recoil was designed to work like H.D. Weapons do, but I almost laughed at how much there was using the RK 62 that had the stock folded. I dont know...nitpicking and bitching I guess, it just seems odd.
commando9903 0 Posted September 26, 2004 my guess would be thats it was to add a little variation too the weapons carried. I can't remember the particular troops armed with the folded version, but maybe the guys carrying it were guys that needed a more compact weapon or were more likely to be on patrol than in firefights. but probably just to add some variation
Smartti 1 Posted September 27, 2004 my guess would be thats it was to add a little variation too the weapons carried Exactly. Just to get some feeling of folding stock version of RK 62. Otherwise it would just look the same as ordinary RK 62. No-one is assuming that those would be used folded in real life during fire fight... Edit: Damn typos
gandalf the white 0 Posted September 29, 2004 can't you change the textures when the rifle is on the back? i believe there was also a M72 LAW that appeared shorter when on your back...
JdB 144 Posted September 30, 2004 Maybe because when paratroopers jump, they carry it folded, and when they hit the ground they don't always have the time to position the stock, the principal dates back to WW2 with the M1 Carbine. Also in vehicles it can be easier to get out when the stock is folded (less likely to get stuck). It's just more realistic
Placebo 12 Posted October 1, 2004 This belongs in the FDF mod thread, however as you'll probably all get lost if I merged it into there for now I'll just move it to A&M:D
