I use Pentium but futurewise we will have to change the Motherboard each time we want to upgrade our processor. I would suggest you use an Athlon (motherboard 939). If you buy a pentium see if you can get the new sockets 775.

Athlon remains cheaper and faster... I hate to say it.

That is a socket 775, there aren´t any 478 on 3.4 Ghz (am I wrong?). Im going to wait with my money untill pentium releases the 64 bit before I upgrade, just an advice.

when buying a new system then with big HDD! 80 GB is a way to small for such a power PC biggrin_o.gif

just get a 200 GB HDD for around 120 bucks

oh and buy that AMD 64 FX 53...it's cheaper and better

and a socket 939 board from asus or abit

@ topic starter: I didn't read anything about the processor, but since you're going big, go for nothing less than two gigahertz.

Edit: Oh okay I see now. You're good to go.

What kind of RAM? What motherboard, optical drives?

And what do you mean with a wather cooler tower? rock.gif

Link, price?

As said, an 80 gig HDD is a ripoff, 160 is a bare minimum IMHO.

Good luck, I know how hard it is, looking for a new comp myself, but holding out for Nforce 4 most likely.

Looking good, maybe it needs just a bit more disk space...if you gonna have on disk movies, games etc,80gb is not so much wink_o.gif

You sound like you got alot of money so go ahead and get a tv card too. Also get one of those sound cards with all the knobs and switches on the outside so you can do any thing you want with that.

#3 OFP

Get a GF4TI4600 tounge_o.gif 1GB RAM and the fastest possible CPU.

OFP is dependant on one thing: CPU.

I'm using a P-IV 3GHz/HT/800FSB and it simply does'nt cut it. 1280x1024, high terrain detail and 1500m view distance. That's all. If I push it I get mini-pauses when moving fast (helos or fast cars).

Get a 19" monitor if you have the space for it. They are pretty cheap right now. 17" monitors often only supports 60Hz in 1280x1024 which in my oppion is flickering.

Looks good to me! smile_o.gif

(even though you respected none of my advises! mad_o.gif )

But it also looks expensive. I hope you got the 19 screen. He is right, they are damn cheap right now. I got a 21 screen for basically nothing.
