smuga 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Operation Flashpoint Resistance ver 1.96 is giving me an error message " Create index buffer failed 8876017c- out of memory " I have quite a powerfull system - P4 2.4, 1 GB memory, Radeon 9800 Pro 256 Mb. The game is running well on lower graphic setting. Whenever I increase the "visibility range" in video options to over 2500 meters, the game crashes and displays above messege. After that I am no longer able to even start the game and change video settings, it will crash before it gets to main menu. The only way is to unistall it and start from scratch. In separate OP. FL . prefrences I do "autodetect video" but it still crashes. Can this game be played on such a high video setting on my computer? The game has few years and I belive I should be able to max the video setting on my system with 1GB of memorey and 256MB Radeon 9800. Please advise.

-Ash- 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Locate your flashpoint shortcut then right click and choose properties.. after FLASHPOINTBETA.EXE Â add these bits at the end: -nosplash -nomap Press ok and run Flashpoint Good luck
smuga 0 Posted August 31, 2004 This is what I have in Target line in Properties of the shorcut: C:\games\OperationFlashpoint\FlashpointResistance.exe If I add "nosplash" or "nomap" at the end , It gives me "invalid name" messege so I cant change it. Writte a full target line for me please.

C:\games\OperationFlashpoint\FlashpointResistance.exe -nosplash -nomap Just be sure to leave a space betwean wathever you add to the shortcut's target line, if you run modfolders ( and you should) do the same -mod=XXX. Also be sure not to have your terrain settings above normal if you want to run big view distance, i have 2.4 with 512 megs ram and run opf with low terrain detail most of the time especialy when in air missions . m21man 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I have a 3.2 GHz, 1GB RAM system and I can still crash OFP by turning terrain detail to Very High on some islands. Keep terrain detail on Low or Very Low if you want to increase your viewdistance to high levels.
smuga 0 Posted August 31, 2004 Shortcut changed sucesfully but stil no result. Game crashes before getting to main menu. This is the messege I get after the crash: Create Index Buffer failed 8876017c - out of memory? I have over 1GB of memory on my system. Battlefield Vietnam runs smooth on highest setting. I dont know why all the problems with OPF?
Heatseeker 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I have over 1GB of memory on my system.Battlefield Vietnam runs smooth on highest setting. I dont know why all the problems with OPF? ATI maybe . Im not sure but many ATI users report problems with OPF and some get theirs fixed using unoficial omega drivers or/and other tweaks, i think a search around this section of the forum would problably help you solve your problem, sry . You could still try to reinstall again, then add the -nomap thingy to you shortcut and see how it goes .
smuga 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I'll reinstall and add no splash no map and see how it goes. It might be Radeon 9800 becouse it ran better on weaker GForce 3 Ti200 before. What does that no splash no map suppose to do anyway? Does it optimaze settings? PS: I spend 15 months in Iraq, there should be Humvees with MK 19s and 50 cals in OPF. benu 1 Posted August 31, 2004 Just edit your ofp/users/playername/userinfo.cfg with notepad and look for this line: terrainGrid=50.000000; This will set terrain detail to a low value again. Nosplash skips the splash screen (the codemasters and bis screens when you start ofp) and nomap prevents all addons being mapped into memory, ie it changes the way memory is managed by ofp and prevents some problems with high number/size of addons. smuga 0 Posted September 1, 2004 Thanks, changing Terain Grid to 500000 did the trick. And it runs better with no map enabled too. S!
