First let's get the CBT/HYK Crew story out of the way.  

For 4 months, I tried every possible avenue to contact HYK and BOH.  I pleaded my case to the community and everyone agreed, mind you, not one nay sayer.  Everyone agreed that since I had tried so hard to contact him, that credit in the readme was enough.  I even to this day will turn them over to him if he ever reappears.  

Now this is totally different then if I had did none of the above, or just created mirror images of his units and claimed them as my own.  I would have been black-balled for sure.  

Please drop the CBT name from your "theft" discussions, since we are not thieves.  We are one of the most laid-back addon groups you will find. This is a hobby and we wish to still enjoy it in the future without any name calling.

Im not saying Combat! is stealing, i love your work, i was just simply agreeing that if Pathy did what you guys did which was give the proper credit where it was due then it was ok.

Why is it ok for Combat! to do it, and not for Pathy to do it? He has also tried to contact HYK for a very long time.

Bottom Line

If one can do it, ALL can do it. No Exceptions... let the community have fun!! dont hold back because one guy is missing.

What happens to old Addons with Minor bugs or ones released before some of the OFP updates. Those that need one or two changes to bring them up to date or get them to work properly.

What is going to happen if all the OFP addons require some minor modifications to work for OFP2.

Do we throw away addons like Hawks Nimitz, because nobody can contact him?

woohoo!!! thefts? Copyrights? Ethics?......lololol!!!!!! c'mon guys, lighten up will yer?

This community built up over the years progressed cos there are many samaritans here who dont mind giving their time and efforts freely, expecting nothing in return..not by egoistical selfish types who made use of knowledge here and keep it for themselves, kick up a huge fuss if others touch their so called 'free' addon, stopping others from progressing at the same time by criticising them. I am sure HYK and many others are made up of the former mould and not a selfish type.

What would Pathy gain from it except tons of hardwork and time spent to improve on others work? Praises aint gonna pay the rent or get hired by BIS. Who benefits? The community.

Either u give freely or dont give at all. This community has enuff right spirited hobbyist and enthusiasts to keep it going till ofp2 comes out. I apologise here and now if anyone feels offended by what i said for i meant no harm. Have fun!

Thanks for the discussion guys.

Let me restate the following:

I've been trying for months to contact HYK, with no response.

I will include FULL credits to HYK for models and textures in the readme. All i will be doing is changing a few bits of gear and textures (the helmet has no camo cover, for example, and boonies and peak caps are often worn...) and adding Colombian Army badges....i dont think i can hardly claim much credit for this.....

Bobcatt, yes i could modify other models. But if i was to modify BAS IK or something, i may as well just use our own US SF pack which has been in dev for 5 months (just going BETA btw ) ....the truth is, that all other models are far away from being Colombian Soldiers.....you wouldnt use a civilian model to make a modern SF soldier off if you had access to a modern soldier model....and the thing is, i have 7 months left in this community to finish my mod. In that time i have 4 different sets of units to make. I dont want to be spending 5 months of that building one set of units, then not be able to complete them.

Anyway, i have to go. See Phils last post to get an idea what the rest of mine would have been

Oh and one last note. I would NOT go ahead and do it anyway if the feedback was mainly negative. However, if you read through, the feedback is mainly positive, so.....bad argument.
