Recommended Posts

You guys have to try this!!!! BIS and everyone playing ofp on the widescreen tv is the best i have ever tried!! Really enhances the game experience.

I tried playing on my parents tv when they where gone with my new gf4 ti 4600 card with tv in and out.

The grapghics look like xbox or something very sharp and so..

maybe you other ppl have tried this at home before but i have always played on my 14 inch screen that i got when i got the comp by my uncle  tounge_o.gif  so widescreen was like holly  wow_o.gif   biggrin_o.gif

But i needed a program called tv tool but i think it only works on nvidia cards  sad_o.gif

but i recommend all ofp players to try playing on a big screen or Tv sometime wink_o.gif its like the best experience ever.

I'd love a projector but they're way out of my budget at the moment, I would use it a lot so additional bulbs at Å300 a pop would greatly add to the cost sad_o.gif

I had this OLD GIANT TV, probably about 40 years old. Thing weighed about 60-70 pounds. Threw it up with 2 monitors on each side and had quite a good game. Too bad it took up most of the desk

Some time ago I hooked the TV out to my friend's 50" monster TV and tried OFP on it. You would be bloody bonkers to sit right next to it and play, because you have to swivel your head in each corner to see the other parts of the screen. It was great though, we turned the volume on full blast to scare the neighbours. smile_o.gif

I tried OFP on my "old" video-beamer, Sharp XV-C1E.

Looks amazing, but the resolution is far from being good enough for a computer game.

I am looking forward to get a new beamer in the near future, arround ~1000 Euro.

I played OFP and Raven Shield at a friend's place on his big widescreen telly with 5.1 Dolby setup, it was like watching a war film at the cinema, but with the ability to shoot the whiny new guy in the back of the head when nobody was looking!  biggrin_o.gif

The only problem is, if you're the kind of person who either has something set to max or off, your ears are going to feel like you've been sat in front of the amps at a Mötorhead show for six hours every time you pull the trigger crazy_o.gif

You can get an LCD projector from US government surplus relatively cheap.

The cable is an S-Video cable... you can get fifty foot ones on eBay cheap.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....9922635 he also has 25 foot ones and down..

Yikes that is cheap, I could use one of them, now where's the Czech Ebay biggrin_o.gif

If you got some time on your hand placebo, I´d suggest your build your own LCD beamer. It´s not hard and you get great results. My beamer projects a 16:9 picture of 3m width now and the picture is great. The lamp it uses is a 250 W daylight lamp used to illuminate stadium for example. It is not expensive. It costs 30 Euro and lasts for 2000 hours.

The overall costs for the homebuilt beamer are about 280 Euro.

You had a thread about that in OT somewhere I believe? Certainly peaked my interest, meant to come back to it, how does the image quality/sharpness/size/range/brightness compare to a shop bought projector?

That´s the amazing point. I tested several buyable beamers and found out that my homebuilt one was in some aspects superior to the beamers at the shops. It has more contrast (black is black and not greyish), the brightness is great (I can use it even when shades are open), the sharpness is just the same (1024x 768 with Linedoubler) and I have a projection distance of 2.40 m´s to get the 3m width pic. The projections width is adjustable from 3m to 5m for open air use. I simply built some kind of tube wich adjusts the objective. This allows to adopt the beamer to various "beaming-distances". For example we watched the EM on it at my neighbours garage with a picture size of 4 m width. That was really big. Such pic is too big for my living room as I only sit 2.40 m´s away from the pic. So I have 3m width in my living room "only".

The objective I use is a variotriplet objective that has an inbuilt zoom from 220mm to 360mm. I use two split lenses of an overheadprojector within the beamer to get the a good magnification and to illuminate the pic even.

I´m totally satisfied with it technically right now. But I will build a new casing for it to make it more stylish. Right now I have a beamer wich cost 280 Euro´s comparable to any LCD beamer at the price of 1000 Euro. They basically are much the same technically, except for the bulp that is really expensive with fabricated beamers. In fact the technical setup is the same as with all the Liesegang beamers. But mine has additional IR and UV filters and the objective tube that makes the big changes in pic size possible. I will update the old thread once I start with the new casing, so you can see how it´s done.

Cool! I'd be interested in that too. Me and a friend have been thinking about getting one together due to the cost. If we can build are own it would be even better biggrin_o.gif (and more fun)

Interesting. I have TV-Out on my 9600 but have never really thought about using it. Do I need any special program to get it working?

Nope, the ATI drivers provide complete support for it, and your card should also have come with the required cable.

There is an excellent article on how to use a TV with your Radeon card on Digit-Life.

I recently tried to play on the plasma screen with the PC and playstation 2, the picture is fine and all, but every minute or so it flickers into black and white and stays so for at least 5 seconds, not much of a big problem but kinda annyoing. Anybody know how to prevent this?

i haven't the time now

You live in a studio where they shoot porn don't you? crazy_o.gif

What a set, that's just sick wow_o.gif

I play OFP on my 17'' and I like it, no need to get a bigger screen (of course, if I play it once on a bigger screen, I am going to want more tounge_o.gif ).

Also a 5.1 surround set, but though I have it correctly set up, I don't notice much ''surround''. rock.gif

But at least I can turn it up really loud biggrin_o.gif
